Given that Michael Reagan is a total, off the chart, right winger, and Ron Reagan is a leftie political analyst for MSNBC, I wonder what family dinners must be like during the holidays. :)

    Ron's latest column . . . http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5445086/#060731A

Entitled "Bush's Talent - Subverting the Truth".

I guess if James Carville and Mary Matlin can have kids together, maybe the Reagan boys can have a peaceable family get together. Then again, maybe not!

Strange twist though...son of a former POTUS at odds with the son of his father's VEEP.

I don't think it's that unusual. You probably remember how outspoken Patti Davis was against her Dad. She was very involved in the nuclear freeze movement and spoke quite publicly against him, though I think she loved him dearly especially in his later years.

Reagan's relationships with his children were complicated by events.

And yet they still seem to have loved him. Isn't that enough?

My parents are somewhat liberal, one of my brothers is a political conservative, I am a religious conservative, the other is somewhere between all of us though he leans liberal. When we all get together it is amazing how we get along providing politics stays out of the discussion. At my last job I worked with several die hard liberals yet we got along. One lady actually said that I was the first conservative Christian she ever got to know and, to her surprise, she liked me! So people can get along despite their political views. This is true even for the Reagans.
