Diotrephes

3 John -

Why do you think John calls Diotrephes evil but does not go as far as to order him out of the church or at least the position he must hold there. He seems to call him out, but does not toss him out. At least not in letter, maybe he does when he sees him face to face, we don't know what took place afterwards.

He said:

3Jo 1:10
10 Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words:and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.

It seems he was on his way there and addressed it when he arrived, if he, in fact, made it there.
