Discovery of new lands

I have been reading a nifty book called "1421" The Year the Chinese discovered the world.

I am fascinated in the various theories of which cultural groups are thought to have discovered places like the Americas, Australia etc with very basic ships and/or navigation techniques. Anyone else share a fascination of who sailed where etc.....

Toyed with the idea of buying the book. Is it a good read?

I have enjoyed it but more of a skim read rather than the full shebang, I would get it out of the library rather than purchasing the book myself....
