Do any of you own an iPod?

I have had an iPod for two years and I love it. I use it for both music and spoken content such as Podcasts and audiobooks. :)
It is such a great part of my commute everyday.

I don't own a iPod, but I do own a Creative Zen Micro. It's an mp3 player just like an ipod, only different. ;)

I love mine also. I listen to easy listening music and carry sermons around. I have also started to listen to the whole set of Thru The Bible.

I'm also a Pod Person.

My wife and I both have a 3rd generation 40GB iPod. She uses it for teaching purposes (she's a professional guitarist who also teaches lessons) and I use it at work to block out distracting noise which I'm doing graphic design and layout.

iPods are nice! I have one too.....LOL
Mine is holding the whole second season of LOST on it right now.
Now the hard part comes in.... how do I get my husband to take it off the iPod, so I can watch it all??

Man, it is pretty bad when your wife has to remind you of things by posting on the internet! :)

Text or audio?
I have a free mp3 audio bible i got from Audio treasure .com

It will fit in entirety on any iPod except for the iPod Shuffle 512.

Of course you can still put part of it on a shuffle.

IN two years? What's wrong with you James? lol
One of the first things I ever listened to on my iPod was The Sovereignty of God by A.W. Pink.
I have used it since for other audio books and such.

First of all, this is usually the best place to get iPods.

The video iPod will hold about 7500 4 minute songs and also displays pictures and videos.
I have a little utility that will rip video from DVDs for the iPod and you can also buy TV shows from iTunes.
They are great for audiobooks and podcasts as well.
They also have extras like a calendar that syncs with your computer calendar and you can also put on your address book.

you can find out all about them at apple.com/ipod

BTW, if you just want something simple to play back music and audiobook etc, check out the iPod mini. You can get them on the refurb site for $139.

They hold 1000 4 minutes songs. They don't have a color display though.

Is there a major difference between buying at an Apple dealer and at Amazon?

What is a Podcast?

What do you mean by rip video?

Am I really behind the times or what?

The reason for buying from the link that I showed you is that those are all Apple Certified REconditioned units.
They carry the same 1 yeat warrantee as the new ones.
They look just like brand new and you can't tell the difference but you get them at a lower cost.

A Podcast is a downloadable audio file like a radio program. The difference is that you can listen anytime you want rather than waiting on the specific time for the show.
A lot of Churches are now "podcasting" their sermons because it is essentially free and it is a great way to distribute.

Ripping video just means that you take a disc and "rip" tracks from it.
Normally it referes to ripping tracks from an audio CD.
You could play the songs from the CD right on the iPod but by converting them to an "mp3" file, they take up much less room while still sounding good.
The same goes for video now...

Hey, the iPod has only been around since 01.....taken over quite well in that short amount of time!

They are discontinued but you can still get the 4GB 1000 song ones refurbed for $140.

We got our 13 year old an IPOD for Christmas. She broke it around March so I took it to the Apple Store. I kept the new one in the car for about two weeks and fell in love with it. My wife got me one for Fathers day so I can take all the sermons off my daughters.

Joseph, if you want to record, then get the full size iPod, you don't have to get the video one, the regular ones they have on the refurb store should be fine. But they do not come with a mic. You get a little mic attachement that pops onto the top and then it adds a recording menu to the interface.

BTW, you are a teacher aren't you?
Do you use a Mac or PC?
