I know a doctor who does look slobbish, is a real pain to get along with, is short tempered ... but yes I would go to him for in his specialty he is acknowledged as the best in his field.

I've been to doctors who were a lot like the one on TV called "House". I tried to watch that show once and couldn't get through one episode. He is rude, overbearing, inconsiderate, condescending, and obnoxious. He's always in a sour mood and very negative. However, he is supposedly a brilliant doctor.

The doctor who did the carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand was very rude and obnoxious, but he did an excellent job on my hand. He went into my wrist to do the surgery. I was left with a very small and barely noticeable scar on my right wrist. Because of his attitude, I made the mistake of going to a younger doctor who was not rude and regretted it. He went into my hand to do the surgery and left me with a permanent sensitivity and pain in my left hand, and I also have a much larger scar on my left hand.

I'm curious as to why a brilliant doctor should be rude and obnoxious, while the less talented doctor is friendlier and more respectful toward his patients.

Very big egos Jon-Marc. I have a sister-in-law who is a nurse. She will only work at night at the hospital. The reason is there are few or no doctors around at night.
