Do you know anything about WebTV?

    Abiyah has had some difficulty with the poll feature here on the board and I wondered if it is related to her server. When I tested her account, the poll feature worked for me.

    The problem that occurs is that when she attempts to vote in a poll, the system tells her that she has already voted, yet even then she is unable to view the results.

    I had recommended that she clear her temporary internet files and cookies but she is unable to do so. Do any of you have any tech advice that may help her?

    I am completely unfamiliar with WebTV but I'm hoping there is a solution available. Thanks. [​IMG]

    Seriously though, the problem is probably the browser. The WebTV browser isn't compatible with...much. If you have a site set up that's usually compatible with IE it's not going to work to wonderfully on WebTV.
    You COULD try to upgrade the browser, but it would probably mean trying to call them and have it done, and from what I hear they're not to great on customer service.

    It is probably related to how webtv handles cookies - which as far as I understand it can't (rather like a cell phone can't).

    If you could give a bit more info on how the polls here work it would be useful....

    I am computer-iliterate. I missed the boat but
    enjoy computers as long as I can just use
    someone else's expertise and programs.

    I am so far off-track on computers that recently,
    someone told me that what I use, which I have
    been calling "WebTV," is not Web TV at all. What
    I have comes to our televisions, on any TV
    which is hooked up to our cable service, and it
    comes from the cable-TV company. It has a little
    wireless batery-run keyboard, and one must type
    very slowly, because it only does about 50 wpm,
    max and skips letes at any greater speed. So
    what is that really called, besides a Royal Pain?

    The only cookies I have are those the sites I visit
    keep for me--that's it, besides the chocolate chip
    and pecan crumbs I have dropped inside the little
    keyboard.

    Oh -- and speaking of service, What Service?

    I do have a computer, but in my great wisdom, I
    accidentally erased that one program which
    would allow me to hook up to the Internet. I told
    you I was computer illiterate!
