Do you think that it is possible that it is God's will for me that I have a wild youth?

I am leaving soon to study abroad. Being a young American in a foreign city living alone is a pretty free life. No responsibilty, no age restrictions, millions of girls, etc...

Read the Bible and tell me what you think.

If you don't believe in God, eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow you die.

That would be a sad reality wouldn't it?

:( Be sure your sins will find you out.
    Sin has its consequences.

It may seem fun now but there will be costs to pay that may haunt you the rest of your life.

I believe its God's will for you (and all of us) to stand firm thru the tempations with which you are faced. That is how we grow. Read Romans 6. That ought to clear up any questions ya may have about it.

This thread has been moved to "Other Denominations" Forum, because the originator therof is not a Baptist.

Keith, the idea is not to see how much you can get away with!!

Being a Christian means ALWAYS trying to do what Jesus preached.

Jesus didn't go "wild" growing up and somehow I don't think He would approve of you doing it either!!

May God go with you and watch over you as you go on your way.

    Godspeed young man,

    Tam

    Keith,

bmerr here. I grew up in the church, and then went on to have a wild youth. From about age 15 to 31, you'd never guessed I had had any religious training. There were drugs, alcohol, music, and sex (and these things didn't stop when I got married).

When I finally came to myself (Luke 15:17), my wife hadn't left me yet, but it wouldn't have taken much to convince her to (God bless her, she hung in there with me), and my children were under the influence of a selfish, profane, frequently drunken man (yours truly).

Telling my 5'2" wife that she was living with an adulterer was the hardest, scariest thing I've ever done, and I've been a paratrooper, so I know what scared is.

Was there fun? You bet! Lot's of it, too. But the pleasure that sin holds is short-lived, while the regrets (that sin doesn't tell you about in the brochure) last a life-time.

From my experience, and the Bible backs me up, it's much better, and easier to stay on the right course from your youth, than it is to try and get back on track after traveling the paths of sin.

Give the book of Proverbs a good read, young man.

    In Christ,

    bmerr

Many thanks to DHK for keeping all of us non-Baptists in our place.

    dianetavegia,

bmerr here. I'm aware of that, ma'am. He restricted me to this area when I first came on board. It's good to see that he's consistent in his duties.

It's a bit of a shame that some are not allowed to participate in the discussions elsewhere, since there are many interesting topics. But it's their site, and they can run it how they want to, I guess.

    In Christ,

    bmerr
