Does America ignore the rest of the world?

An interesting article on how the United States often seems focused on itself while ignoring world affairs.

Perhaps we could discuss this without shooting the messenger but dealing with message?

The problem is the messenger has an agenda. Trying to address the message without dealing with the agenda of the messenger would be to ignore facts.

Unless the US feels it has a strategic or economic interest in a particular country, then yes it does tend to ignore the rest of the world. Our media surely does.

Hard to make a case that America ignores the world while our "leaders" are always on tv threatening to sanction and bomb every other country into submission.

I think if Americans are ignoring anything it's just how corrupted and evil the government really is.

No. But how many billions would we save if we did?

America's interest in the world is not demonstrated by the marketing arm of a news magazine. Time magazine selects cover stories according to which cover will sell the most magazines in a given market segment. Therefore you are not going to see a cover story on Islam in the USA when a cover story on something else would sell more copies of the magazine in the US.

Also, at the bottom of the article the writer admitted that the stories about world affairs were contained inside the US edition of Time magazine, just that it wasn't the cover story in the U.S.

Much ado about nothing...

Yep. Even though according to the latest DHS report thinking outside the corporate induced false paradigm could be a serious threat to national security.

Reckon that makes me a rebel huh?

Good perspective, though I think the very fact that Time chooses such soft news covers for the US indicates how little US consumers care about news events outside US borders that don't directly concern them.
