I just pointed the shotgun at his back and it went off.....I didn't pull the trigger. He made me watch porn and dress kinky and do weird stuff, so I shot him in the back with a 12 ga. shot gun. RIGHT! We should let her off and just hope she doesn't meet some one else that tells her to do dumb stuff.

I'm getting really tired of hearing those lines. "I was physically and sexually abused by my (father)(mother)(father and mother)(husband) and the list goes on. I was abandoned, felt isolated as a child, bullied, etc., etc., etc."
It's everybody else's fault, but mine.
I guess now the media will be having another field day portraying the minister as a double-faced, cruel, sadistic, hypocrite who preached the Bible and beat his wife for fun, who read Scripture and watched porn from the same computer.

I haven't heard a lot of the story, but what I have heard I tend not to believe. But is those things so far are true, then why not leave, or get help, they aren't something to kill over, and I don't see the self defense at all, was he violent or something. Just porn, dressing kinky, and weird stuff?

I’m actually from that area of Tennessee and have been following closely. I tend to believe she was abused, he’s a Church of Christ preacher and their as fundamental as they come. Most rule their household with an iron fist and take the ‘woman is to be submissive’ to the extreme. She wanted a divorce, but him being a preacher that would not look well on his resume. Her family testified how they noticed how she became closed off and timid since her marriage.
I’ve heard and read from several newspapers in the area that he would use the shot gun to “get her attention” as a fear tactic and making one submit to ‘unnatural sex acts’ against one’s will to live out one’s partners sexual fantasy is mental and physical abuse. I don’t care if one’s married, there’s no right to force one’s spouse into a sexual act that makes the spouse feel humiliated.
Does that give her the go ahead to kill? Well she grabbed the gun in order to get his attention and it was probably an extreme resort to get him to realize that she was serious and that just because she’s a preacher’s wife, doesn’t give him the green light to treat her like some pet house slave and being the gun was already loaded, it went off.
I followed the court proceedings online through the Tennessean via live camera feed and it’s a shame she was pushed to this. But then again, I wasn’t in the courtroom, nor could I watch the whole proceedings, but this is what I’ve gathered from talking with friends and reading the area news papers.

So it’s OK for him to use a gun to control his wife? It’s OK for him to force his wife into ‘unnatural sex acts’ that are degrading and humiliating? It’s OK to knock her around a little? I don’t agree with her shooting him, and neither did the jury, but the facts are what they are. She was mentally and physically abused and the only way she felt she could ‘get his attention’ and make him realize that she was serious was to use the same tactic he often used…grab the gun. Unfortunately he got shot; she should’ve never been put in that position to begin with and that’s something she’ll have to live with.
