Does God hear or answer unbeliever's prayers?

    I'm wondering where some scripture for this is.

    Does God hear or answer unbeliever's prayers? (Other than the prayer of salvation.) He knows everything, right? So does He ignore them when they pray or ask for help? If He does then if an unbeliever prays for a believer then does He answer them then?

    Define unbeliever. If it's someone who doesn't believe in God, then obviously, the anser is no. If it's someone who believes in God, but doesn't necessarily comprehend or accept the divinity of Christ, such as the Jews, then it's possible that He might. Dunno for sure.

    But one thing is for sure. If a non-Christian offers to keep me in his prayers, I will not in any way discourage the prayer, nor would I discourage whatever seed, which I might not comprehend, that the Holy Spirit has planted, from sprouting.

    If you are talking about someone who believes in God but is not a Christian, the answer is absolultely yes -

    Acts 10:1-4 (ESV)
    At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion of what was known as the Italian Cohort, [2] a devout man who feared God with all his household, gave alms generously to the people, and prayed continually to God. [3] About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God come in and say to him, "Cornelius." [4] And he stared at him in terror and said, "What is it, Lord?" And he said to him, "Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God.

    Not sure if there is scripture to back this up, will have to look into it, but I have always been taught that God obliges Himself to hear the prayer of believers. He is not obliged to hear the prayer of an unbeliever except the prayer of repentance leading unto salvation. That being said He, at His discretion, can hear and answer the prayer of an unbeliever according to His sovereign will.

    I agree with Corry on this. God hears all prayers but he is not obligated to answer the prayers of non believers like he does those of his own children. Besides Cornelius in Acts 10 which Ken mentioned, how about Genesis 16:11 where is says
    The Lord heard the affliction of Hagar. Is that the same as a prayer?

    Rachel,

    As far as I can see in the scripture God does not hear the prayer of the unbeliever unless it is a prayer for salvation or repentance. Bailey Smith can attest to that.
