Does unconditional election equate God with Allah

Does the Calvinist view of unconditional election make God like Allah? In my personal conversations with I find that they believe that they have no assurance of sins forgiven and Heaven (or paradise as they call it) because it all depends ultimately on the will of Allah. Even if they strive to be good and live by the rules of Islam it all depends on Allah's will. Is this similar to the Calvinist view of unconditional election? I do not presume to give an opinion on this matter but rather to open it up for debate.

Any similarities between a Calvinistic view of God and a Koranic view are completely immaterial and irrelevant. If a certain position, such as the Calvinistic view, has scriptural support, then it should be given considerational merit by the Christian.

I don't change my beliefs just because they happen to coincide with another belief.

I agree with JohnV. Allah has many attributes that have been 'ripped off' the Christian God Jehovah. Allah is said to be all just- all powerful, the creator of the universe, one God, he has a will and a plan, etc.

The difference between Biblical election and Allah's will should be very apparent: Christ lovingly came to earth and died for his bride. Allah has made no such sacrifice in Islam.
