DOJ Inaction Gives Pornographers Green Light

Unfortunately, I can't agree for two reasons.

The first is that the letter you cited doesn't show that they are showing "hardcore pornography".

I've been involved in threads here in the past where "hardcore pornography" was defined so broadly here in the past as to be meaningless, so I have no way of knowing exactly what I would be protesting.

The second is that, as a free market conservative, it's no business of mine what consumers want to buy from a private distributor.

You may now feel free to misinterpret my post to tell me what an awful person I am and how I think it's OK to watch pornography.

 

This is just a proof of the comment by someone in eons past (DeTouqueville, I THINK) that: (paraphrased)

"A democratic form of gov't can exist ONLY in a moral society"

This is a classic example. Porno is wrong (biblically, not legally), yet there is the paradox of "freedom of expression" vs "laws for the good of society".

Other examples: Abortion, gambling, legalized theft via social welfare that forces you to pay for that for which you disagree (both conservative AND liberal guilt here), congress critters, & govt employees retirement vs the remainder of the populace, etc., etc., ad infinitum!

A morally lax society will inevitebly collapse in on itself due to the excesses of the immoral when their number becomes such that they are the ones dictating/influencing national policy.

Look at our modern concept of "RIGHTS" & I don't think there will be any doubt.

Rights become paramount with little or no demand for the responsibility that is inherent with those rights! This is a recipe for disaster just waiting to happen and we are rapidly mixing up that recipe.

 

Soft core, hard core, as far as I am concerned it is all one and the same thing.
