    Does anyone here play dominoes?
I love to play but I always think it's odd that no one else my age plays.

When I lived in Key West, I used to play with the old Cubanos and it was a great time.

I really miss playing but no one my age, unless they're parrotheads, even knows what dominoes is.

Hey Smoke~how ya doing? Let me tell you this real quick: when I married into this family, I'd never heard of staying up all night playing dominoes! But my husband & his folks did it all the time! I'd say that's some dedicated players, eh? ;)

I've spent many an hour playing dominoes; when I first got married my wife and I played practically every day with my parents during Christmas break.

Now I usually only play when we go camping; we have passed the tradition on to our kids, and they insist on playing.

I have several sets, including my parents' old dragon dominoes and a Capitol set. I really like the new plastic ones; they're durable and make a nice clicking sound. [IMG]

    P.S. Anyone play moon?

I have enjoyed playing dominoes, but it is a game for those who have a little more down time than I have right now.

42 is a great game. But it seems few people outside Texas know how to play it. Especially not yankee translplants, who can't even count to 42 without a machine.

Smoke_Eater, I don't know what your age is but I am 21 and I enjoy playing dominoes. My grandparents always used to play a game after dinner and we would join them occasionally. Now that I'm married my wife and I play it every now and then. I was really excited when we got a double twelves set last year because I had no idea that anything other than double sixes existed!

    Wow! I had no idea.

I noticed that you guys are all from the South or midwest. Maybe dominoes is just a lost art here in the north.

I've taught a couple of people to play and there were a couple of guys at my station who played but, mostly, when you say "dominoes" around here, the only dominoes anybody knows is tha pizza.

So, how about it? Baptistboard domino tournament?

Smoke_Eater, in some circles dominoes is a blood sport.

Like at the World Dominoes Championship in Carnegie, OK. I'm not very good; I lack the killer instinct. Although I love to tie up a game and send folks to the bone pile. [IMG]

Try to imagine the game of Spades (card game) played with dominoes. The rules are rather complex to explain in a post, so in searching for a link, it is interesting that one I found begins with the story, "Legend has it that 42 was invented by a young Baptist boy in east Texas because he wasn't allowed to play cards..."
