This passed weekend, DT did an interview on Face The Nation. When asked about the abortion debate, he stated the following…

    1. DeSantis signing the fetal heartbeat law in Florida was a mistake.

    2. He would sit down with democrats and they would come to a number (of weeks when abortion became illegal) and the Dems would “love him”

    3. He refused to give a number (of weeks) that he thought abortion should become illegal.

Will this hurt him in the primaries?General Election?

It should, but I doubt it will. Christians have ignored so many issues with Trump. Abortion won't matter. In the end Christianity plays no role in Christians supporting Trump. He had the "Christian Right" long before he claimed to be Christian.

Cities will burn, it doesn’t matter who is elected in future. The cup is overflowing and judgement will pour out across the whole Earth.
    Whole nations will be aborted.

Does this surprise anyone? It doesn't surprise me in the least.

For those that blindly support Trump and the Republican party, it will make NO difference at all.

Are we REALLY going to have to decide between Trump or Biden again?

    It all makes me sick.

Well, it does surprise me. I hoped he would make the case that by overturning Roe, the states would have to opportunity to debate the issue and come up with an answer according to the people’s will.

It is too early to tell if 2024 will be Trump/Biden rematch, though time is quickly running out for alternatives.

Looks like antacid meds will be a safe stock buy in 2024. :)

    peace to you

People see what they want to see.

    The first comment:
My father showed me the clip, highlighted by blaze TV no less, where Trump said to negotiate with the left on abortion. Now, having read this, and knowing how he exposed the swamp (which is why they've gone rabid), I see the plan. Get them to the table, make them admit to what they really want, and show the world.

I walked by a TV the other day playing CNN.

What were they doing? Pointing out several times Biden had lied. The conclusion was he was dishonest at worst, had a "cloudy" mind at best

I do not think they will run Biden if Trump does not run. They may not either way. But Trump is his only chance.

I suspect Trump is just playing politics, becoming a "RINO" to get support from both sides. It is not a dumb move. It may show his true colors, but the "faithful" won't care.

Too many Republicans and professing Christians support abortion rights. It isn't a hill Trump will die on.

When did DT make the statement you quoted?

So, DT telling Face the Nation that DeSantis made a mistake signing the fetal heartbeat bill was a clever way to trick the Dems into believing he wants to negotiate on abortion, (telling the Dems they are going to be so happy with him) and then pull the ‘ol switch a roo so the Dems real agenda is exposed?

Do you really believe evangelicals do not understand the Dems want tax payer funded abortion up until the the baby starts crying after being delivered?

His position is similar to Haley. What I don’t like is….

    1. attacking DeSantis and calling the fetal heartbeat bill a mistake

    2. Telling the Dems they are going to be so happy to negotiate with him.

Im not trusting him in abortion issue. I don’t think it’s a ploy. I believe he will negotiate much of Roe into federal law.

    peace to you

IMHO - elections are won by those not enrolled in a major party -as well as liberal R's and Conser Dems.
In order to win a POTUS election - you must have the vote of the three, I just mentioned.
My thinking is that by compromise a little you will get something.
If you don't compromise - than you will get nothing.

Look at the anti-smoking people - back in 1966, all they wanted was a message on the packs that stated: ‘"Caution: cigarette smoking may be hazardous to your health’"
In 1969 - the new message included " can cause lung cancer"
Note: Bold is my emphasis Check this link:

In the past 57 years - the anti-smoking group have been very successful -for two reasons: 1) willing to take a little at a time 2) Patience was their virtue.
On the other hand most pro-lifers wanted a total ban - they wanted nothing less.

And yet, tobacco companies still get billions in subsidies (tax payer money) while making billions in profits every year. I don’t think the warnings hurt them at all.

Smoking is down. Vaping is up. They get rich no matter what.

    peace to you

BUT it did not end at warnings - that was just step one! The next phase was to pass law. In NY it is illegal to smoke inside any bldg - including your own office - Recently, the mayor of Syracuse pushed a bill that no new smoking license will be permitted within a cetian distance of a school or park
Last week a new NY State law just up the sin tax on ciggs by $1 per pack
And there are different laws that have been passed.
Even the Feds made a blackmail law saying you had to b 21 to buy ciggs .
(so even a new young GI cant buy the sticks.)

Again - those folks have lots of patience.....

FWIW - a large local mall has prohibit any smoking in their huge parking lot - even if you are in your own vehicle!

And the once hard & fast laws making smoking pot against the law has been lifted. I wonder if a nation of pot heads is just what “they” really want.:Unsure

Now, back to our original programming already in progress.

Here’s my issue. Our tax $$$ are being used, every year, to subsidize an industry that….

    1. Produces a highly addictive product

    2. Produces a product with known health consequences including cancer

    3. Produces a product that is targeting our children with advertisement

    4. Produces a product mainly used by the poorest in the community.

5 Makes billions of $$$ in profits without the subsidies.

The most addictive part of cigarettes, as well as cancer causing agents, is the numerous chemicals added to tobacco as “preservatives”.

    peace to you

Right! Now, how about alcohol & now pot. Are we to become both a high & drunk nation… think not only of the tax revenues accrued, think of the car accidents, the medical costs, the productivity that can be achieved. :Sneaky

Salty, I don’t know how to do links.

Be assured, my brain is full of fun facts…..

    ….AND…..

I am almost always right, 98.6% of the time.

I see I have taken my own thread down a rabbit hole. Let’s get back to DT and abortion

    peace to you

I see that DeSantis has come out strong in criticizing DT for this interview. He is making the same argument that several have already made here.

He says DT is going sell out pro-life Christians in an attempt to win democrats. DT is starting to sound like a RINO.

This issue might actually move the polls a little.

    peace to you
