Donald Trump's Position on Releasing His Tax Returns?

Does anyone know what Donald Trump's position on releasing his tax records will be this week?

In case you wanted to know a history of his positions, here they are.

In 2011, when Trump was in his "birther" stage, he said he would release his tax returns if President Obama released his birth certificate. Obama released his birth certificate, Trump reneged on his promise to release his tax returns.

In 2012, with Mitt Romney running for President, Donald Trump criticized him for trying to keep his tax returns private.

In January 2016 Trump said he would release his tax records. But after winning several primaries, he reversed his position and said he couldn't release them because he was being audited. And he said he was being audited because the IRS likes to audit the taxes of "good Christians like himself".

In March Trump said that there was no reason to release his tax returns because "there is nothing to learn from them."

In April he said his tax returns were "none of your business", then softened that stance by saying he wants to release them but he can't because he's being audited.

Recently he's bragged about paying as little as possible. "That's the American way", he says. But in campaign speeches he will attack corporations for using tax loopholes to “get away with murder”. Hypocrite.

Last week he said he pays "substantial taxes" but gave no specifics. He says he "tries to pay as little as possible because the government takes your money and wastes it in the Middle East."

So what will his position on releasing his tax returns be this week?

Should presidential candidates release tax records?

This week it'll be something like "I'll release my taxes when crooked Hillary releases her emails".

He's a two-bit charlatan masquerading as a businessman.
He makes EXTREMELY gaudy hotels and thinks folks are impressed by the hideousness therein.

And all of a sudden, cheating folks out of their money has him qualified to be the GOP nominee for President. Folks are crazy.

You'd have to pay me to leave a roach motel to go stay in something like that. Looks utterly ridiculous.

I don't care either way.

Forbes Magazine has said for many years that Trump is not worth as much as he says. He cannot release his tax returns without revealing his true worth so they will never be released. Forbes Magazine is probably correct about Trump's net worth of much less than the 10 billion that Trump lies about having.

Trump's appeal is to those who are against the Democrats no matter what. And the Democrats are helping Trump by refusing to field a responsible candidate. Blame that on Obama for not indicting Clinton and for not silencing Sanders. An honest Democrat could beat Trump.

The GOP painted themselves in this corner by allowing a candidate with 40% of the vote to walk off with a majority of the delegates to the GOP convention in Cleveland this year. The GOP chairman Reince Priebus should have been fired after Romney lost; he does not know what he is doing. He and Trump have fractured the GOP.

So , Trump doesn't want to release his tax returns. Big deal. He's a billionaire. It would be too complicated for most to figure out anyhow.

Just add him to the list of democrats that hide stuff. hillary hides thousands of emails and won't come clean on the crooked clinton Foundation and Obama hid everything about his past life that he possibly could.

Get over it.

I do not blame him. I blame the liberals in the gOP like McConnel, Beohner, Ryan, Romney.

We blame Boehner, McConnell, and Ryan because they were elected and given a majority in the House and Senate and could not check Obama or get their own agenda passed. They folded in negotiations with the Democrats.

Now, because people are so mad at them they are nominating Donald Trump to be the next president. I wonder what people will do when Trump does not deliver what he is promising (I'm looking at the border wall for one thing). Will we nominate Howdy Doody in 2020?

No they didn't. They went along with him because they agree with him. They wanted the same things.

Trump may be a billionaire but he is lying about being worth ten billion dollars. But then we all know that Trump is a congenital liar.

As for getting over it, I have. Trump helped by saying that he did not need conservative votes--or was he lying about that, also?

10 billion. 1 billion.

Who cares?

He's rich. End of story.

Evidently, Trump cares because he is still lying about how rich is and he is refusing to release his returns, but then he doesn't need conservatives he says and everyone knows that he is a congenital liar.

1. Trump is demanding that any VP candidate supply 10 years worth of tax returns. Why should they cough them up it he's not going to do so?

2. When Biden's tax returns come out (annually) he gets roasted on BB (and rightly so) for how little money he donates to charity. I would think everybody would be curious to see how much Trump gives to charity. Also who he gives money towards.

3. The man is going to be proposing tax policies. Knowing how he handles his own taxes will give us a clue as how he will view taxing American citizens. This clue may or may not line up with his stated proposals.

There is no mystery here. He handles his taxes exactly as his accountants and attorneys say he should. I imagine they try to take every legal advantage based on historical interpretations of tax law.. If they're wrong, he pays a penalty, just like you and me.

His tax returns won't tell you what you want to know. He's bound by today's law, just like you and me. what you really want to know is what he will do different. His returns won't tell you that.

So what. Do you know any uber rich person that knows exactly how much he's worth?

It could change by millions, maybe even billions in just a few days. Besides that , it's subjective. There's book value and then there's market value and then there's cash value. Most of the time they're not even close and 2 people could look at the same property and come up millions apart in value.

i think some people are just curious and others are looking for a wedge or a hammer to beat him up with. If I was him, I wouldn't show them to you either.

On the other hand, if I was running a "non-profit" foundation on the tax payers dime, I would feel an obligation to disclose where the money came from and where it went...if you get my drift.

This is all true. But I go back to my OP:

Recently he's bragged about paying as little as possible. "That's the American way", he says. But in campaign speeches he will attack corporations for using tax loopholes to “get away with murder”.

So, what is his position on tax breaks for corporations? It's a certainty that he applied for, lobbied for, and made deals for property tax breaks, perhaps tax-increment financing or some other scheme when he would do real estate projects. So was he just doing things the American way, or was he getting away with murder?

He may have to answer that question at some point, but his tax returns won't answer the question...for the reasons stated above. Especially when you don't know HIS definition of "murder".
