your statistic is fascinating. I ran the numbers. 60% of the time it works every time.

Even more fascinating is this: A number of studies have shown that when the correct answer is given to a math problem, it is almost always right.
Like the noted Yogi Berra once said about baseball.
Half this game is ninety percent mental.

Don't mean to sound contrary, but the Lord convicted me of something years ago.

A lie is a lie whether intentional or not. If I say I am going to visit my pastor tomorrow, I mean to visit him. But suppose something happens that I am not able to? A stroke puts me in the hospital before I can visit. I have not intentionally lied, but my promise became a lie.

I believe that is why the Word of God tells us to say 'if the Lord wills...' when we say we are going to do something. When we say 'if the Lord wills...', it becomes 'lie insurance' if you know what I mean.

Now, BibleBoy has said he asked the Lord to forgive him and praise God, He is faithful to do just that. Even though it was an untruth and unintentional, it is just as if it never happened once Christ forgives.

'and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more against them'.

Praise the Lord!
It was not a lie in the first place. There was no deceit or malice intended. No sin was committed. No apologies are necessary. He explained the situation. End of story. I think there are some people who would take the defintion of sin to include breathing air and watching a sunset. Some people need a hobby. Common sense goes a long way.

I would suggest investing in a nice dictionary that defines what a lie is. Your definition is anything but.

Snopes declares that the topic of the OP was false... which means it is not true. If something is not true, it is a lie.

BibleBoy did not know that it was false, but his not knowing it was false did not make it true... it was still a lie.

Not all lies are intentional.

If one do a search on the queen of england, one would find that england recognizes her as Sovereign Queen. Yet, one can also see that there are some in england who do not bow to her, nor do they obey her.

Just because one is sovereign does not mean one is always obeyed.

Now you are talking nonsense. You are comparing apples to oranges. There is no comparisome between the man given title "Sovereign Queen of England" and the fact that God is the Sovereign God of all creation. The queen did not create England... England created her title...

What you are espousing with this whole line of argumentation is nothing but Open Theism (a heresy).

Some thing can be unture without being a lie. A lie is dealing with the intent and words spoken (or in this case typed) with the expressed intent to disceive others. Your idea here means that there is no room for making a mistake. So when a 6 year old kid at school messes up on a math test and says 2+2=5 he has lied to the teacher and must repent. Nonsense...

So, in other words, if I was unsaved and read in a book that Jesus' mother was married to 3 men before He was born, and I told someone that Jesus mother was married to three men before He was born I cannot have been lying because I did not know the truth?

Hogwash!

A lie is a lie whether one knows the truth or not.

Yes, but there is a distinction between a lie and a liar.

You are not a liar if you simply repeat a lie because you yourself have been deceived.

A liar is one who intentionally tells an untruth or only tells the part of the truth that is intended to lead someone else to make a false conclusion.

That's the Point! Perhaps in this portion of the debate we have been arguing past one another because I failed to clarify exactly what I was talking about and simply used the terms HBSMN was using. He is talking the truth or falsehood of the actual words and I am talking about the heart intention of the person speaking those words.

it is funny. I looked up lie in my websters and found that webster says that a lie is a falsehood told for the purpose of deception.

I looked up falsehood and found that a falsehood is a lie.

So I can come to this conclusion by webster's logic.

A lie is a lie that is told for the purpose of deception but the lie is not a lie if one does not mean to deceive.

Oh the madness of man's logic.

A lie is a lie whether one lies intentionally or unintentionally.

The difference in my view between a falsehood and a lie is similar to the difference between killing and murder.

Some falsehoods are lies, and some killings are murders.

But not all falsehoods are lies, and not all killings are murders.

...then you'll like this

God is love.
Love is blind.
Stevie Wonder is blind.
Stevie Wonder is God.

So much for Webster's logic...

Killing is not murder?

Killing is murder whether one kills intentionally or unintentionally.

A falsehood is a lie whether intentional or unintentional.

Theft is stealing whether one takes something intentionally or unintentionally

Sin is sin no matter how one tries to justify it.

I see you haven't bought that dictionary yet...

Let me throw this out there. You state every instance of wine in the Bible dealing with the positive is juice, and the negative is wine. That's not what the Bible says and is untruthful. Are you then a liar?
