could be he was trying to demonstrate man's natural propensity to sin or disobey or natural curiosity to do what is said not to do.

Years ago I built a panic button. A black sealed box with a red push button. Labled simply "PANIC" and when pressed it let out with a shrill whistle. Leave it alone and it would stop in 15 seconds, press it again and the timer started over - seldom went off in 15.
