    At the end of Lion, Witch et al, does the lion return to life to rule? Or does he just die?

    I'm having a debate on another forum and since it's been 45+ years since reading it (and NOT interested in reading it again) I have forgotten what happens after Islam (or whatever the lion's name is) :eek: :eek: dies.

    Thanks for a quick sentence or two to fill me in. Hey, I'm not the gambling type, but this could cost me a cuppa joe . . :rolleyes:

    Now Dr. Bob, I know you know it was not Islam.

    Aslan tell the girls who are shocked at his Resurrection that the white witch did not understand the true meaning of sacrifice. He tells them if she had she would have interpreted the words on the stone table (think ten commandment tablets) differently. She would have realized that if one who is pure willingly dies in the place of a traitor, the stone table would crack and death itself would work backwards. He dies in the place of a traitor so that the witch, who has a lawful claim on the blood of traitors, will renounce her claim.

    Dr. Bob, I am shocked to see that you don't think Lewis was a Christian. I am not aware that he denied anything.

    We do not know the heart of any other, but how would YOU evaluate the spiritual life of a person who
    (1) Turned to the Catholic Church before his death
    (2) Believed in prayers for the dead
    (3) Believed in purgatory
    (4) Confessed his sins regularly to a priest
    (5) Received the Catholic sacrament of last rites on July 16, 1963
    (6) Rejected the doctrine of bodily resurrection
    (7) Believed there is salvation in pagan religions
    (8) Denied the total depravity of man
    (9) Denied the substitutionary atonement of Christ
    (10) Believed in evolution
    (11) Rejected the Bible as the infallible Word of God
    (12) Used profanity
    (13) Told bawdy stories
    (14) Frequently got drunk with his students
    (15) Denied the biblical doctrine of an eternal fiery hell
    (16) Prefered ecumenicism
    (17) Attributed salvation to the sacraments

    Dr. Martin Lloyd-Jones (a pastor and writer I greatly love and respect) told Christianity Today that because [C.S.] 'Lewis was essentially a philosopher, his view of salvation was defective. ... Lewis was an opponent of the substitutionary and penal theory of the Atonement.'
