And what are you gonna do if I complain about Congress?

    Well? Call me a reporter?

Another effort by democrats to stifle free speech.

    The assault continues.

I could be wrong, but in reading over that section in the Bill, it would seem they want to stop people that pay for "grassroots lobbying" in other words, groups that are not really grassroots, but paid people to act as if they are a grassroots group.

The bill clearly states that it does not include grassroots lobbying, but paid efforts to stimulate grassroots lobbying.

Again, I am not sure, because whenever you read a bill from the Senate is reads like Greek to me.

But, they want to allow their wives (or husbands) to be lobbyists.

Normal people - no. Family - yes.

    Can anyone spell nepotism?

And of course they are afraid of dealing with the high priced lobbyists . . . usually their first name is "Former".

    Get rid of them all.

I must have missed something here.... other than Ged rif of them all(which I agree with), I didn't understand what this had to do with this bill.

Those critics that must register are the normal people. They are not restricting or banning family, 'retired' (Former) politicians, or the greedy and well paid lobbyists.

That is the bill that needs to be accomplished.

Or, since the congressmen that are not representing the citizen, eliminate congress.

Well, just when I thought I'd heard it all.

There's so much rolling around in my brain:

-I'm already registered to vote, so I can readily voice my opinion that way.
-Where do I sign up, because I know I'm going to open my big mouth with some criticism at some point.
-How dare they take my tax dollars and tell me I can't lodge a complaint!
    -mmmm I could go on.

    What a mess.

Ah, so they're targeting those faked "grassroots" organizations that are actually slick media campaigns by large labor unions, big business, etc.

Still a bad idea. The American people didn't sent them to Washington to act like the Republicans.

Just further evidence that both parties are controlled by self serving, power hungry, slobs that could care less about the American people. Rather worthless creatures I would say. Its time to take back our country.

You must not have read it.
Labor Unions and Corporations are exempt.

This is aimed squarely at the man on the street with a complaint to register who bands together with others of like mind.

In looking around at this, I found a link on the Republican Policy Committee website that states:

    S. 1, Ethics and Lobby Reform – The text of S. 1 is identical to the ethics bill
passed by the Senate last Congress on a vote of 90-8.

So, where was the fuss then? When the last Senate passed this?

It would appear that all this talk and "news" over this item was for nothing. S.1 didn't pass because Gregg wanted to add an admenment to it.

Democrats are also trying to stifel conservative talk radio shows. I don't have the story right now but will try to find it later. Of course they are upset because their liberal attempt, Air America, which is sydincated can't hold ratings compared to even local conservative shows and no one listens to their dribble...Bush lied, children died...rah rah....but they never have anything intelligent to back up what they say.

Never mind finding the story about the dems trying to hush conservative talk show hosts, it is already a thread in the politics section. Sorry.

So when the news of this story has been shown that:

    1. The text of S.1 was/is the exact same text that the last Republican congress passed and

    2. The billl didn't pass

You can continue to bash the Democrats. Where was this bashing when the last Republican congress pass S.1?

Yeah, just look around these forums, there is always a thread bashing something someone is trying to do. It's sad. There is/are more posts in a bashing thread than in a study thread.

And you're right there with everyone else.

So exactly how sad is it? Sad enough that you won't take part anymore?

I am not saying I am any better then anyone else. Nice try though..

And no.. I wouldn't want to stop debating with you my friend. :) It's fun to keep each other on track.

My statement was a general one, in that we sure focus more on missions and such vers who is in office. Who is in office doesn't really matter at this point, they are all corrupt and equal in nature.

    Take care,

    Jamie
