Downloading music...?????

Ya'll my knowledge of comuters fits on a microscopic pin, and I was wondering how do I download music from the internet to a blanck CD. I found a great website with hymns, but can't figure out how to get it on a CD.
Can anyone help?

I go to Kazaa.com I download from there. Then I store my songs in My Music, I copy from My shared folder. I go to my burning feature that I have which is Nero - Burning Rom. And It has a wizard that walks you through it. Does your computer allow you to burn? I also have Neato MediaFace II by Fellowes that lets me make CD labels and booklets.

I know my son uses musicmatch Judebox. BUT his computer will burn CD's. You have to make sure of that first.

Depends on the file format of the music. You can check that by finding the music file that you downloaded on your computer (or sometimes the website or program will tell you what kind of file it is) and then right clicking on the file (hope you don't have a Mac) and selecting properties and seeing what the properties window says for "file type:". If it's an .mp3 or .wav file, you're in luck. You can burn wave files (.wav) and you can convert mp3s to wave. You'll need a CD burner of course to burn the songs onto a CD (you'll need some CD-Rs, not CD-RWs since most stereos can only read regular audio CDs and CD-Rs, not CD-RWs). As long as your CD burning software is not too old, it should have all you need to easily do any converting you need to do and burn the songs to a CD-R as an audio CD. Otherwise you might need a separate program to convert mp3s to wave before you can burn them. Most CD burners these days use either Nero or Easy CD creator which aren't too hard to use, especially if you just use the wizards. Even without the wizards it's usually just a matter creating a new layout for an audio CD and dragging the songs from the explorer window to the layout tree. One other important thing to remember is that you must close you audio CD; once it's closed, you cannot add more songs to the CD, but the CD will only work on a computer CD-ROM but not a regular audio CD player if you do not close the CD.

There are a few exceptions to the media and format rules. Newer portable CD players and DVD players can often play mp3 CDs and many DVD players can even play CD-RWs.

May I suggest something?

Don't download music off the internet unless you're using a subscription/pay service. It's similar to the discussion we had previously about "fine tuning" software to use the full versions that you haven't actually paid for.

Especially be careful with Kazaa. There is now at least one confirmed virus--possibly two--that's being spread through Kazaa users.

Further, the MPAA is working on watching those of us who are file-sharing music files. If they get their way with the courts, it won't be just Kazaa, BearShare, or the other file-sharing program companies that they'll sue; it'll also be you, and me, and anyone else that's been using those services.

Just my thoughts. Yes, I did do some downloading not too long ago; but my personal convictions have since caused me to uninstall all file-sharing programs off of my computer.

If you're using a subscription service, or paying for it--by all means, please disregard my rant and rave here.

You can right-click on a Mac. It has never been a problem despite what some people think.

Kazaa has a antivirus feature that you can use along with your own antivirus software. Have used them for a long time. No virus yet.

ok, I'm not very technical with computer stuff, but my son has abunch of music from kazaa.com and wants to burn it on a cd to put in his car. B ut it's not wave files, how do we change that, or do whatever it needs?

I imagine that he has mp3 files - these need to be converted to cda files (wav won't work) - there are loads of pieces of software that will do this - I'll have a hunt round tomorrow and post a link to a free one for you.

Kazaa, Morpheus and nearly all of the file sharing programs also secretly install spyware, keyloggers, and adware on your computer. Depending upon the program it can launch ads on you unsuspectingly, redirect links you click on to their affiliate sites or transmit information about your surfing and buying habits.

I have my own affiliate marketing business. There has been a huge outcry in my industry over these file sharing programs and the spyware they install on users computers. This problem was so big that the story was covered in the NY Times.

Anyhow there's program that will scan your system to see what adware is resident. There is a free trial available for the software.
