Do any of you receive Dr. David Clouds email newsletter or subscribe to his O Timothy Magazine? If so, could you please give me your insights on Dr. Cloud (if you have anything negative to say, please say it in a manner as not to be slanderous). Do any of you own his books or other materials. If so, what do you think of them?

Thanks

I trust him & would rather read David Cloud than anything from say...the Graham family; but I've let my subscription to O Timothy expire, because of the 'net & all that's offered there.

I have met David Cloud on a few occasions and have read his books and O'Timothy. He has good discernment on what is taking place in the church today. His ministry is that of warning and exhortation. He is KJV Only, but not of the Ruckman type - in fact he has publically wrote articles against Ruckman.

I hope that helps. Is there anything in particular you are trying to find out about him?

David Cloud's ministry has been a huge blessing in my life. I use his encyclopedia on a daily basis, like a text book. I have met him a few times, and have talked at length. I read his daily articles regularly.

I have met David Cloud and found him to be very personable and gracious. i thank God for his ministry, and that he is bold enough to name names in this modern day of ecclesiastical and doctrinal compromise. Thank God for someone who sounds out the warning on ecumenicism, the charismatic movement and new evangelicalism, wish to God would had more Baptists like him!! Those who are unfamiliar with this man and his ministry may find out more at http://www.wayoflife.org/

From a different angle, Cloud's writing is good on many things. However, it has been shown to be factually inaccurate on many things, some of which he has publicly apologized for and some of which he has not. His spirit in which he writes is less than admirable on many occasions. I have in my files personal correspondence between him and a fundamental pastor whom he publicly slandered. His spirit in those letters showed and arrogance that is unbecoming of a Christian. In that exchange, he refused to take phone calls and refused a personal visit from the pastor at the pastor's expense to clear the issue up. In short, he failed to respond in the biblical manner to matter of dispute which Cloud misrepresented and drug the name of a fundamental, theologically sound man through the mud.

I read his site from time to time, mostly for humor. He has some good stuff, but he needs to be read with extreme discernment. I would not recommend my church read him to be sure.

I use his internet resources on the site a lot. I really like most of his stuff, there have been a few things that have raised my eyebrows, but like anything or anyone that isn't God, I don't expect perfection, and as with anything or anyone you have to be cautious not to take everything said as 100% truth and fact.
He provides some valuable resources, and I'll continue to use them. [IMG]

It is no surprise to find Baptists who diagree with David Cloud. First, Brother cloud is human, prone to error. As to the dispute between him and a pastor, what is the rest of the story?

Then there is the fact that some Baptists can't agree with the Word of God but go about seeking men who will comfort them in teir error. [IMG]

Well said. That is why he must be used with discernment, as must all men.

I agree 100% with these observations. I feel that godliness should not be left at the door when we disagree with someone else.

I just read his article in which he is blasting the late Dr. Jack Hyles. I agree with some of what he says but deplore the spirit in which he says it.

Pastor Bob,

Could you provide a link for Cloud's discussion of Jack Hyles. Thanks.

Thank you, DMoore...I forgot to add that. Dr. Cloud, though I don't always see eye to eye with him on some things, has been a great blessing to me, too. I've never met him in person, but look forward to doing so one day soon.

Those who are judging Bro. Cloud's "spirit" by his writings have, I assume, never met the man. Yes, his writing is bold, but in spirit he is humble and gracious. I accompanied Bro. Cloud for two weeks whilst he taught on Biblical Separation throughout N. Ireland, I found him to be warm, generous (often offering his literature free of charge to those who could not afford it, and having a rich sense of humour.

David Cloud provides a valuable service exposing the new evangelicals among the Baptist ranks. We are to earnestly contend for the faith, not cover sin and make it okay because modern socity okays it.

Yes but we are to do it a manner of truthfulness. Cloud has accused men of things that are not true, both through failing to do research as well as by failing to study the issue enough to know the difference between new evangelicalism and fundamentalism. I can document cases of both. Furthermore, truth is to be defended in a spirit of gentleness and meekness, not in a spirit of arrogance and haughtiness. When Cloud refuses to meet or talk to people whom he has slandered who are responding to him in the spirit of Matthew 18, that is a problem. I know for a fact that Cloud refused to talk on the phone or meet with such a person. That is an unbiblical response.

I fully agree with many of cloud's positions. I take a firm stand in my church and in our neighborhood for the same positions. However, I detest the manner in which is does some of it and find it to be a serious flaw in him. Again, one must read him with great discernment and be careful not to adopt his spirit about things.

I have read some of what Cloud says. I do not find his site to be of much value. Sure, he does, sometimes, say good things; however, he is too right wing for my taste. He also, like many right-wingers, is quick to condemn things he personally does not agree with. For example, his stand on contemporary christian music. He seems to take the stand that it is wrong. I totally disagree.

I viewed Mr. Clouds material and I have never seen so much negativity. I know that some may disagree with this but I believe most of his writings are nothing more than gossip and not worth viewing. I am saying this as a conservative independent Baptist.

Have you truly done any research on CCM? I have several friends and a brother in the music industry (Rock/Country and CCM) and would to know why you would disagree with someone who can point out scripturally the invalidity of CCM? I would like at this point to recommend a book by Kent Brandenburg entitled Sound Music Or Sounding Brass: The Issue Of Biblically Godly Music Brother Brandenburg knows music very well. It is available through http://www.XLIBRIS.com or you can call 888-7-XLIBRIS
I basically held the view that CCM was okay until a few months ago. Now, because of more research and proof, I'm starting to question it. And Dr. Clouds information has been an invaluable resource in this dept.
