First it was foot baths for Muslims at the University of Minnesota now Barak Hussein Obama's favorite tune at Duke University.

MUSLIM CALL TO PRAYER TO BE CHANTED EVERY FRIDAY AT DUKE UNIVERSITY
In a new initiative to promote religious pluralism, Duke University will broadcast the Muslim call to prayer every Friday on campus. The call to prayer—also known as “adhan”—will be chanted by the Duke Muslim Student Association.

The prayer itself is set to start this Friday at 1:00 p.m. and will be broadcast and amplified from the Chapel bell tower on campus.

As campuses continue to foster political correctness, they use it as a way to favor religions seemingly at war with Western Civilization and Judeo-Christian beliefs.

Frequently, we see students fighting for their religious freedom on campus—especially Christians. We hope that Duke University will also allow equal opportunity for Christian students to gather to pray and respect their religious freedom.

Duke University has a long history of fostering political correctness and hypersensitivity, from Chick-Fil-A’s removal from campus, to hosting a the national Palestinian Solidarity Movement conference, and to canceling a pro-life event in their Women’s Center on campus.

Young America’s Foundation called and emailed Duke University’s associate dean of religious life, Christy Lohr Sapp, for comment but has yet to hear back. Ashley Pratte, spokeswoman for Young America’s Foundation, spoke with the associate dean’s assistant who confirmed this story.

Duke University's decision to sound Muslim call to prayer riles some
Emma Lacey-Bordeaux, CNN

The Muslim call to prayer will sound from a bell tower at North Carolina's Duke University -- but not everyone is considering the chant music to the ear.

Starting Friday, the Duke Muslim Students Association will chant the call, or adhan, from the Duke Chapel bell tower. The adhan signals the beginning of the weekly prayer service. It's ubiquitous in Muslim countries the world over; not so in the Carolina piedmont.

The call will last three minutes and will be only "moderately amplified," the school said.

Duke, which got its start in the late 19th century with help from the Methodist church, says the move "represents a larger commitment to religious pluralism that is at the heart of Duke's mission."

"It connects the university to national trends in religious accommodation," said Christy Lohr Sapp, the chapel's associate dean for religious life.

Various Christian denominations hold prayer and worship services in the chapel. The school also has spaces dedicated spaces on campus for various faiths, including Jews, Hindus and Buddhists.

"Just as the bells announce chapel worship in the building on Sundays, the adhan announces Muslim prayers on Fridays," the chapel said.

Duke is a big name nationwide. US News and World Report rated it among the top 10 American universities.

Another big name in the state is strongly denouncing the school's decision.

Franklin Graham, son of legendary evangelist Billy Graham, took to his Facebook page to call on donors to pressure the university into reversing course.

This sort of thing continues to be just crazy. You would think that universities who were founded by the church would refrain from having any clubs, etc that did not uphold the banner of Christ.

But in order to get those federal financial aid dollars, I guess they have to make some compromises. SMH.

Are they gonna put a mosque on campus next?

Islam is a religion of death. Muslims worship a false God. Mohammed was a false prophet. There are some so-called Christians who do not believe the Words of Jesus Christ:

John 14:6. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Mormonism is also a religion of death.

Try to place the Muslim call to prayer from a bell tower over a campus? Complaints.
Try to place a Mormon over the country? Cheers.

Politics.

Duke cancels Muslim call to prayer; cites opposition, safety

"...after a flurry of objections arrived by phone and email -- along with reported security concerns -- Duke canceled a plan to have members of the Muslim Students Association read a moderately amplified call to prayer from the tower for about three minutes each Friday."

Wonder if there were "security concerns" or if that is just an attempt to smear Christians at this uber liberal school!

I think Duke alumni caught wind of this "idea" and complained. Following the money again, but I'd like to see the day a mosque rings the bells. That's not going to happen.

And at least Mormons aren't killing French cartoonists.

“It makes me sick to my stomach that there are those in the world who find it appropriate to make recourse to violence—even threats of violence—to justify their means,’’ Safi said.

but he didn't say it about that.

Thanks for the link 777. I thought an expansion of the posted remarks by Safi would demonstrate the hypocrisy of Islam!

The anti-Islamic backlash infuriated Omid Safi, director of the Duke Islamic Studies Center.

“We are better than this ... better than being intimidated and pressured,” Safi said in an email. “It makes me sick to my stomach that there are those in the world who find it appropriate to make recourse to violence — even threats of violence — to justify their means.”

In response to Graham’s contention that Christianity is marginalized at Duke, Safi said, “Spare me the paranoia of a wealthy white male Christian who talks about being marginalized in America.”

These people absolutely will not disown, even protest, the slaughter perpetuated by so-called radical Islam, even when they are using a 10 year old girl to carry a suicide bomb..

Safi is welcome to go back to whatever sand-enhanced third world cesspool from which he came.

Is Jacsonville, Florida a sand-enhanced third world cesspool? I ask because that's where he was born. Just curious

Maybe he meant that Safi should return to Iran where he grew up. I'm still glad he lost on this issue.
