Ear Rings

During Old Testament days should a slave find himself freed..., but chose to remain with his master, his ear would be pierced to reflect such.
Source: (Exodus 21:6)

Do men of today with pierced ears sporting ear rings consider themselves just keeping with the times, or are they outwardly showing their devotion for their "master"..., unaware?

Mine was a fashon statement. I no longer wear one. Tattoos are another.

The slave/master/earring thing is not our culture. That past practice has nothing to do with today.

Isn't the men's earring thing sorta out of style now anyway? I remember a few years ago a couple "older" men in our church had a diamond earring in one ear. I always chuckled to myself, and thought how dumb it looked, but I never said anything. It's their ear. ;)

Now they got these big pillars ....kinda look like buttons, in both ears.

Oh, you haven't seen the big rings, which are inserted inside the holes in the earlobes? No just hanging from the earlobes, but completely inside the earlobes, as big as my wedding ring (and I've got fat fingers!) and probably as heavy.

The attractiveness escapes me.

Gauges, those are the things you're talking about that start out small circles and you see some that are huge.

Those and regular earrings - definitely not out of style anywhere I've seen. I'm not sure why guys would want to bother. I'm a girl and I don't bother half the time. Earrings can be a pain.

The guages are more a body modification thing for people who don't REALLY want to do body modification. Afraid of commitment, but seeking attention. Like people who get pumpkin spice cappuccinos at the gas station vs those who go to a coffee house and get a real cappuccino. Like the semi-permanent tatoo is to a permanent one. Madonna's latest pop tune to Carmen. Only opposite on all counts, because body modification is in no way as tasty of fun or classy as the above stuff. (I harass the tar out of teens who tell me they're going to get gauges, can you tell?)

But earrings as signs of who they belong to? I don't believe that, but I'd be willing to throw the idea out there for thought if it would less boys to wear earrings, and thus have less boys screaming like girls when they lost an earring. :p
