Easter.......Passover.

:type: ?Questions: How does the church decide when Easter will be if not for following the schedule of Passover??????? And also: Why would Easter Sunday not always be the Sunday after Passover?????? :smilewinkgrin: thanks for your help.............rosmaria

The Christian churches in the eastern Mediterranean area celebrated Easter on the 14th of Nisan on whatever day of the week it might fall, but the rest of Christendom adopted a more elaborate reckoning to ensure that it was celebrated on a Sunday in the Passover week. .......

I think when Christians first started observing Easter seriously, they wanted to be sure it never would fall on the same day as the first day of Passover.
