    What songs (new and old) do ya'll like for a blended easter morning service.

    I was thinking "Mighty is The Power of The Cross" and "Go to Dark Gethsemane" (It's quirky but the words are awesome.)

    Any suggestions?

    Old: "Hallelujah Chorus"
    "Christ the Lord is Risen Today" (it ain't Easter if we skip this one!)
    "Low in the Grave He Lay"
    "Were You There?"

    New: "Easter Song (vocally pretty nasty but a great song...does mid '70's
    count as new?)
    "The Wondrous Cross" (old + new)
    "My Savior Lives"
    "How Deep the Father's Love for Us"
    "Once Again"

    I was thinking about doing that Julie Miller song, "How Could You Say No". I nearly cry when I listen to her sing it.

    Thanks for the good ideas.

    Is that the one that 2nd Chapter of Acts did? "Hear the bells ringing, They're singing, that we can be born again! . . ."

    Yep... Keith Green did it too!

    How about:
    "Amazing Love" Kendrick
    "Beautiful Savior" Townend
    "You Are My King" Foote
    "Shadow of Your Cross" Engle
    "Redeemer Savior Friend" Evans
    "My Savior My God" Shust
    "Jesus, I My Cross Have Taken" Lyte

    One of the few times the cover is better than the original.

    Who covered it (other than my wife every Easter)? I've only heard the original... oh, and Acappella's version, and that was live. Very cool.

    Without a doubt, "Hallejuah, What a Savior" by Philip Bliss

    Man of Sorrows! what a name
    For the Son of God, Who came
    Ruined sinners to reclaim.
    Hallelujah! What a Savior!

    Bearing shame and scoffing rude,
    In my place condemned He stood;
    Sealed my pardon with His blood.
    Hallelujah! What a Savior!

    Guilty, vile, and helpless we;
    Spotless Lamb of God was He;
    “Full atonement!” can it be?
    Hallelujah! What a Savior!

    Lifted up was He to die;
    “It is finished!” was His cry;
    Now in Heav’n exalted high.
    Hallelujah! What a Savior!

    When He comes, our glorious King,
    All His ransomed home to bring,
    Then anew His song we’ll sing:
    Hallelujah! What a Savior!

    "Arise My Love" by Newsong...and if you ever get a chance to see them sing it live, it is tremendous.

    Most contemporary music has very shallow lyrics.

    "How Deep the Father's Love for Us"
    "In Christ Alone (My Hope is Found)"
    "Majesty" (M.Redman)
    "Here's to the Day" (B. Crockett)
    "My Heart Is Not My Own" (J. Rouse/R. Vader)

    That's just Easter-themed more modern stuff we've done in the last few weeks. And that' s just stuff off the top of my head. Wonderful depth here.

    No period of music has a monopoly on shallow lyrics.

    Most broad, sweeping statements are an annoyance. Oops, I just had one too!!
