"Pastor's Empire Built on Acts of Faith, and Cash"

Pastor Paul Crouch looked into the camera and told his flock that Trinity Broadcasting Network needed $8 million to spread the Gospel throughout India and save 1 billion souls from damnation.

Crouch, head of the world's largest Christian broadcasting network, said even viewers who couldn't afford a $1,000 pledge should take a "step of faith" and make one anyway. The Lord would repay them many times over, he said.

"Do you think God would have any trouble getting $1,000 extra to you somehow?" he asked during a "Praise-a-thon" broadcast from Trinity's studios in Costa Mesa.

The network's "prayer partners" came through once again, phoning in enough pledges in one evening to put Christian programming on 8,700 television stations across India.

TBN was not short on cash. In fact, it could have paid for the India expansion out of the interest on its investment portfolio. But at TBN, the appeals for money never stop. Nor does the flow of contributions.

Over the last 31 years, Crouch and his wife, Jan, have parlayed their viewers' small expressions of faith into a worldwide broadcasting empire — and a life of luxury.

The network, little known outside fundamentalist Christian circles, was buffeted by unwanted publicity last week, when The Times reported that Crouch had paid a former employee $425,000 to keep silent about an alleged homosexual tryst.

But millions of people needed no introduction to TBN. Its 24-hour-a-day menu of sermons, faith healing, inspirational movies and Christian talk shows reaches viewers around the globe via satellite, cable and broadcast stations. Its programs are dubbed in 11 different languages...

The prosperity Gospel is full of his kind.

The Bible says of him and his kind....:

You'd think these people would have learned they're lesson from what happened with Jim Bakker. But instead, They simply ignored it, and continued on.

Here are some photos for you all...:

The Unfinished Heritage Grand Towers that people sent thousands of dollers for! Sit and ROT! and are to be torn down!

The Famous BARN Studio and Home to Heritage Village Church, sits in ruin.

Wanna know what these photos are??? that's right... Jimi Bakker's former Christian Theme park... sitting in ruin. What clearer message do we need, that the prosperity Gospel message is a false one and needs to be stopped. Meanwhile, these buildings sit and rot...

"Those who do not learn from thier mistakes are doomed to repeat them"

    Points to ponder.

I don't know, the way he is talking it seems he doubts God will get that extra $1000 to him somehow :D

    Typical prosperity mob  :(

I'm not surprised by anything false teachers do, they serve satan, and do it very well. I would say I am surprised by the christians who believe them and fall for this kind of stuff, but that no longer surprises me either.

The man's had numerous affiars (with women) in the past. Very Swaggart-ish, if you ask me.

Methinks he and Jan should abdicate TBN to other hands, hands which hopefully belong to people who can keep their legs crossed.

I'd just as soon see TBN go belly up, but because their airtime on it relatively inexpensive, there are a few good programs on, such as D James Kennedy's Coral Ridge Hour, which would be negatively affected. (then again, ther'es a fair amount of tripe, as well). Sad, don't you think, that TBN is no more worthy than the secular for-profit stations and networks.

    Johnv,

This is the first I have head about Paul Crouch and other women. What do you have for us in terms of documentation?

I would like to see more programs like Carl Baugh's on there, but I don't think that will happen with the Crouch's in charge.

I did not know that they had been accused of some of the things the papers are saying about them/him. BTW I am not a fan of theirs, tho when they showed LBehind and Megiddo I watched. :D

I just can't get past their thrones(sp?). Ick, but then again I really don't like lots of gold and ornate things, & etc. I saw that the LA times was one of the links posted with the article. Are there other news papers with them listed? Any of them christian? While most of the secular papers are pretty much sorta on target with the truth, it would be nice to also see if any Christian papers sniffed out anything with the Crouch's.

Have you all not seen the latest scandal that is rocking TBN?

Whether true or not, Paul Crouch has been giving a platform for years to false teachers. The few good people that might be on TBN are not enough reason for this endorser of false beliefs to continue. I hope TBN shuts down.

It seems the junior channel to TBN, "Daystar", is following suit. I understood at one time they were careful who they had on their station. Their preachers were moderate, now that they are seeking big money to build and keep their empire going, they are doing the same as TBN. Today on their fund raiser they had Mike Murdock spewing his garbage. Later the head of the station was getting "direct messages from God" that promised those giving would be blessed in a great way.

We are in terrible days. The false teachers now have a world wide audience. Far too many people believe what they are seeing on TV is Christianity. What a shame.

Thank God I don't watch those things any more. I used to have to watch them because my wife's grandparents liked them. But, they finally got wise when they were supposed to be "healed" for sending in money for a healing empowered prayer cloth, and they weren't healed. I find it shameful that Bible believing Christians can be sucked in by these money grubbing scumbags. It proves that many are looking for teachers to "scratch their itching ears" and not listening to the Lord.

    TBN is to Christianity as...
    A. Pro Wrestling is to Sports.
    B. The National Enquirer is to Literature
    C. Dan Rather is to Journalistic Integrity
    D. All of the Above

The Answer is...well, if you have to ask, you fail. :D

TBN gives you enough heresy in one hour to last you an entire year.

Their message reminds me of the state of Isreal in the days of Jeremiah.
This nation, as well as all western nations, are in for a BIG wake-up call.

 Well it was either TBN or some other Christian channel I flipped by one night that had this one speaker/preacher on that sounded kinda like a motivational speaker. I dunno, maybe he was targeting a teen audience and felt the need to speak to them in an exciting manner. He was saying something about motions affect your emotions...something like that. All's I know is he was kinda jumping up and down like one of them exercise gurus. It is really sad that the some of these stations have made this kind of turn, because now when an unbeliever (like my dad or stepmom) were to walk into the room and see all the pleas for money, I think it only serves to sort of fortify (dad and stepmom's) position that that is all Christians on those stations are out for. I can understand asking for money from time to time, but certainly not as often as is happening now. Maybe they have been taking some lessons from some of the panhandlers on 59 in Houston.

There had been an arcitle in a local weekly publication several years ago. Frankly, I was surprised that it didn't get more attention. Apparrantly, he was able to dodge the bullet by saying it happenned a many years prior. I dunno the specifics any more than that.

Carl Baugh, hmm, let's see, a guy with a degree from a degree mill, that is acreddited from an accreditation mill. Sounds exactly like someone Paul Crouch would take interest in. Last time I checked, Baugh was still passing off the "man tracks" as genuine, even though they've been shown to not belong to humans.

I vote with Marcia; I hope the LORD will shut TBN down. Yes there are "a very few" good programs on there. I'm sure Jan sticks with Paul for the money. I'm sorry but I just can't stand watching either of them. I bet if you dug all that make-up off of Jan she wouldn't weigh more than 90lbs. Please pray for me if you think I am being naughty. Better still, lets pray that they will repent, and receive Jesus Christ as their LORD, and Savior.
With the love Jesus gave me.
With love of GOD the Father,
With love of GOD the Son,
With love of GOD the Holy Spirit,
    All three make one.
