I saw an ad here on the BB today for a trial efax where faxes are sent from your email. Anyone here use it?

I have used it as a means of receiving faxes, which I do for free! It works a treat, and if you need to send faxes regularly I would highly recommend it.

I used it one time on my job. It was allright. it sent documents as a .pdf file. I think basically faxes get mailed to a third party, who then scans them and emails them to you. I had the free version because I was only getting one fax per day. I think up to 20 faxes per month they would allow you free. Maybe if I had had the "paid fer" version it would have offered some additional features.

Efax works fine. I used it when selling my house and I've used it for scambaiting. Basically, they give you a phone number to use as your fax number. You also have to dowload their software in order to read the faxes. It works as good as a fax machine. I just wish it didn't depend on their software. It would be much better if it used a universal platform like pdf. Someone said they used it and it did send faxes as pdf, but I don't remember it doing that.

Anyway, if you just need to recieve the ocassional fax, the free version is fine.

I would imagine you would need a scanner to fax document, right?

I used it before I got a scanner, but that's been ages ago. I haven't felt a need to fax anything since I got a scanner and could attach it to email.
