There is no reason to think that women can't do both. Scarlett and I are both teachers.
My hours were such that I could be with my children -- who were for the most part at the same school I was at even.
In biblical times, women work much harder than modern women work. I cannot imagine what it took to keep the house going then, what keeping everyone fed and clothed entailed.
