What should I say? Thanks for setting aside your first choice of a Southern Evangelical for a New Jersey non-Christian? The east coast wins again. I suppose that the new apointee is skull and bones from Yale. Shouldn't we really e-mail Laura Ingraham for her 3 week daily campaign against Miers?

    Judge Alito is a Christian.

Do you have any evidence that Judge Alito was a Skull and Bones member(not that it matters in any form or fashion)?

People for the American Way hate him & have already started a petition. Therefore, he must be an excellent pick. [IMG]

Just when it was pretty much nailed down that Ms.
Meirs would likely overturn Roe vs. Wade ...a bunch of angry white guys submarine her nomination of this evangelical christian and is replaced with another Roman Catholic.

What would have been fair, would have been for her
to testify and win the American people over but the far right bullies won this one.

As for sending a note to bush ..he is too incompetent to read a note.

I just sent a thank you email, only because I know they tally these in an office somewhere in the White House.

The so-called Christian right would be unable to compose a note that he could read anyway. He went to Harvard and knows the east coast. The Christian right prefers defeat to victory. You are right on this case, the Christian right snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and stuck us with another Catholic on the court as if Catholic jurisprudence (substitute French and Latin American) were not the worst in the Christian world. Talk about Bush's syncretism, what about the syncretism of the Evangelicals who act as if there never was a Protestant Reformation? The only possible conclusion is that the only doctrine that Evangelicals know is what they read in the Left Behind series. Evangelicals, wake up and study some doctrine and try to show yourselves as good workmen for a change. Never mind, they are asleep in the pews, safe in the knowledge that they will never have any tribulation in their lives--it is right out of the fairy tales such as The Emperor's New Clothes.

With all due respect to the people in this thread who differ with me on this I say that Bush's nomination of this man is nothing but politics. His first choice failed because he abandoned his voting base so he goes with a choice that cannot fail. Why should I be greatful for that? Bush has made a bad habit out of throwing us conservatives a bone now and then. What is really sad is that folks like James Dobson and many others are just as happy as they can be about that. I don't know if they just don't see what is going on or if they are so politically motivated that they just don't care. Well I am not one of those and I am not happy. Bush is not a real conservative.

I am a conservative, Bible believing, born again Christian who is not crazy about George W Bush (who I voted for twice) or James Dobson.
