End times prophecy: Syria Attack

STRIKE PLAN: US Hit on Syria Would Extend Beyond Capital, Sources Say


Will this lead to a war? How is this related to end times prophecy? I am not sure yet as to how this event will play into the larger picture of the return of Christ, but perhaps someone here on the same page can enlighten me on these details. Yes I believe in newspaper prophecy because often what was revealed in the Bible comes true in the news! Perhaps a strike on Syria will lead to a coalition between Russia, Iran, and the other countries mentioned in Ezekiel whom will one day strike Israel and the US will not defend Israel. With Obama at the helm Israel will be left without a defender, even if Ezekiel 38-39 were to come true tomorrow.

I have no idea how old you are, but the 1967 Middle East War was the start of the end times, then the 1973 Yom Kippur War was the beginning of the end. Then, in 1982 when Israel bombed an Iraqi nuclear site, that was the end. Then, when the United States ejected Iraq from Kuwait, that was the trigger. Then, in 2003, Iraqi freedom was the Second Coming. That does not even touch the conflicts between Israel and Palestine, Lebanon, and Hezbollah. They are too numerous to mention. Of course, some here will remember, when Israel became a nation in 1948, that was the start of the last generation. Funny though twenty five years passed, then forty and nothing happened. Maybe it is a hundred year generation.

Trust me, this incident in minor compared to the ones listed above. A blip on a radar. God will execute His final plan when He sees fit, not when the United States sticks its nose where it has no business.

The Temple Mount has never been under the control of Israel. I'd watch for that event.
1948 was a start, 1967 extended to Jerusalem, but NOT the Temple Mount.

This has never been fulfilled. Damascus is the oldest continuously occupied city on the earth.
The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria:
they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts. Isaiah 17:1,3

This is my problem with most of dispensational futurism... it is newspaper exegesis. Instead of saying this is that w/in Scripture (cf. Acts 2 and the use of pesher w/ Peter quoting Joel 2), you look at the news reporters and say that is this right here in the Bible. That is loaded w/ error, IMO.

Really... the start of the end times? I guess the NT was mistaken when it said that the "end" has already come w/ Jesus (1 Cor. 7:29; Heb. 10:25; 1 Pet. 4:7; 1 Jn 2:18).

It may have been sacked, but it remained a city.
Actually, it is the LONGEST continuously inhabited city on the earth (5,000 years).
The prophecy says it will be "uninhabital". Jerusalem was destroyed and yet never "ceased to be a city".
They always used the building blocks to reassemble sacked cities. Radioactivity would make that impossible.

Will you still be laughing when you see a mushroom cloud over Damascus?

For thus says the LORD of hosts, "After glory He has sent me against the nations
which plunder you, for he who touches you, [Israel] touches the apple of His eye. Zech. 2:8

Hal Lindsey was saying the same thing 30 years ago, I believed him when I was a teen but not so much now.

Read less newspaper headlines and more history.
