Romans 8:7
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.


Why do you think that Paul tells us that the carnal mind that is governed by the flesh is at enmity against God?
To me it tells me to be prepared that it is an enmity to God it will be an enmity to us and our new nature.

Can the mind can be governed by the Spirit?

How do you think this happens or can it?


What do you think about this enmity?

Was the purpose of it to say some just can't be saved?

The purpose of Paul pointing to our enmity is it to show us not to trust in our carnal mind but to point us to Jesus the one we can trust?

Is not the purpose of all scripture to point us to Jesus?

Have men given scripture a different purpose than what it is intended for?

As long as the carnal mind remains carnal it is not subject to the law of God. The question is: Does it have to remain carnal. Another question is: Does it necessarily mean that it is unsaved?

James, writing to the "brethren" or the saved said this:
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. (James 4:4)

The friendship of the world is enmity with God.
If you are a friend of the world you are an enemy of God.

This is how much God hates worldliness: and worldliness in the believer!
He is speaking of the carnal Christian, that Christian that walks in the flesh or is desiring the things of the flesh more than God. Many Christians backslide and at some time in their life go through such a period. That doesn't mean they are not saved. God hates that type of lifestyle. He calls it adultery. It is spiritual adultery as we (the bride of Christ) are in effect married to Him. Thus the sin is a serious sin.

To be a Christian and live like the world; where the world cannot tell if you are a Christian or just part of the unsaved world, that is what God hates.
