EU bans claim that water can prevent dehydration

So scientists are telling us that contrary to personal experience we cannot control dehydration in our body...

But we can control the temperature of the globe?

Wait, maybe they think that it's global warming that causes dehydration and not a lack of adequate water intake!

Of course, it all makes so much sense now.

Using similar logic can't we also say that eating food does not prevent starvation?

One thing is for sure:
Intravenous fluids and a hospital stay costs a lot more than a glass of water.

I saw this on Drudge Report too.

The report is mostly about the nature of chronic dehydration. But it's done wrong. This kind of foolishness is what turns good science into punchlines.

What is most disturbing is the punishment: Producers of bottled water are now forbidden by law from making the claim and will face a two-year jail sentence if they defy the edict, which comes into force in the UK next month.

I can kind of see their point, although it is also a case of too many bureaucrats spoiling the common sense: drinking water on it's own does not in and off itself cure dehydration; it only rehydrates you if it is combined with essential salts and other minerals.

I've never heard of a dehydrated person holding out for mineral water.

It just occurred to me that this has all the marks of a Gatorade conspiracy.
