This lady is extremely and vocally on the forefront of one of the movements to stifle any options but the evolution interpretation of data.

Reading her short bio, I find the following very interesting! Among awards she has received are...

the Isaac Asimov Science Award from the American Humanist Association, the First Amendment Award from the Playboy Foundation, the James Randi Award from the Skeptic Society

For a lady who tried and did not make tenure as a professor, I just thought that was interesting!

Eugenie Scott is not tenured? Are you very sure, Helen?

Why are the awards interesting? True, none of them is a Nobel Prise, but those who never made tenure must find satisfaction in the lower awards that we receive.

    Hi Mark,

It's just interesting to note the types of organizations and people who are honoring her. For many of us, something from one of those organizations would most certainly NOT be an honor, but more of a shame and embarrassment to be unacknowledged! If I received an honor of any kind from Playboy, I would wonder what I had done wrong. :(

I've seen and heard Eugenie Scott speeak several times, and her arguements are very solid and convincing.

It does seem that Eugenie Scott is far better qualified, educationally and in other ways, than most of those who advocate creationism on a full time basis.

Snappy one-liner, Peter, but 'full-time basis'? I'd rather discuss the actual science rather than the popularizers, first off, and second, regardless of Scott's seeming good arguments and her education, her tactics are nothing I would recommend in a class on ethics.

She is better qualified than almost any creationist to discuss the problem. However, I do agree that we would do better to discuss the issue than attack people personally.

I hope things will improve on this board soon.
