    Do you read the EULA?

We all sign an End User License Agreement (EULA) when we purchase and install software. Most of us never read the babble.

One site, PC Pitstop included a clause in one of its own EULAs that promised anyone who read it, a "consideration" including money if they sent a note to an email address listed in the EULA. After four months and more than 3,000 downloads, one person finally wrote in and claimed the $1000 reward.

More recently, a computer game retailer revealed that it legally owns the souls of thousands of online shoppers, thanks to a clause in the terms and conditions agreed to by online shoppers.

The retailer, British firm GameStation added the "immortal soul clause" to the contract signed before making any online purchases earlier this month.
It states that customers grant the company the right to claim their soul.
"By placing an order via this Web site on the first day of the fourth month of the year 2010 Anno Domini, you agree to grant Us a non transferable option to claim, for now and forever more, your immortal soul. Should We wish to exercise this option, you agree to surrender your immortal soul, and any claim you may have on it, within 5 (five) working days of receiving written notification from gamesation.co.uk or one of its duly authorized minions."

I've read a few but very few. All they say is that you don't have any rights and they have all the rights

Can believe that few read them.

Let's see when i come to that when showing students how to install software I usually say this is a document where they tell you you don't have any rights and that they have all the rights. Seems I've heard that recently

That $1000 would be a good reason to delve into a few more.

I skim most EULAs, but not all. I have a friend who does read them and passes on any info that he finds.

I do know Apple's EULAs are insane, especially if you are a developer.
