Ever been to Alabama?

Not much!

 

Depends which part of the state you visit. The North part has some beautiful mountains.
I-65 from Nashville, TN to Birmingham is a gorgeous drive!

It's a prettier state than GA.

 

I have always thought it was pretty cool that they named a state after a country music group

 

I am from Alabama, so I have been there many times, lol. There are some beautiful beaches, mountains and caverns, and many historical places as well.

 

It's been awhile. I thought it was pretty! I was in the northern part.

 

Where do you want to start?

Few people know that the garden of Eden was in North Alabama .

There is something for everyone.

BEAUTIFUL countryside in the North.
BEAUTIFUL beaches in the South.
The Country Music Hall of Fame
Ivy Green - Helen Keller's childhood home
The Alabama Space and Rocket Center
The battleship Alabama

If you only get to go one place - go to Huntsville in the spring and drive through the antebellum district when the dogwoods are on bloom.

Those who have seen it will back me up.

 

The mountain lakes region around Guntersville is amazing.

If you are a golfer there are a plethora or BEAUTIFUL courses.


Any guesses where I am from?

 

I am biased - but it is a trul awesome place.

 

The Space Center is a good day out - except for the bus tour! Avoid the bus tour around the launch sites etc., unless you enjoy looking at industrail buildings and rusty scaffolding

 

Many, many times! It is so much fun. It is a must see place.

 

Okay - Ulsterman has a point. That was the last day I went as well .

You do get to see the zero gravity water tank they use in weightless training.

BTW, can you recommend a good barber in Huntsville Ulsterman ?

 

Yes, - Huntsville's barbers are very interesting, especially when giving a shave with cut throat razors in very shaky hands. If you want to dice with death just ask for Slim.

 

I lived in the B'ham area for about 8 years and in the Dothan area for about 10. We spent our honeymoon at Gulf Shores. The only thing I don't like about Alabama is the crimson tide

Well, I must admit, the state of Alabama does have a few downsides

 

I lived in Montgomery for a few years and I have relatives in Dothan, Ozark, and Enterprise. Montgomery has many nice things including the Shakespeare Festival, Martin Luther King's church, and other attractions from the Civil Rights Movement. Gulf Shores is very nice too. Lots to do in Mobile as well.
