Nice try .... IAW!
I think facebook and other social media are for self honoring rather than GOD.
I had read almost half of the old testament and noticed that GOD is not pleased for people honoring themselves and that's how I see on facebook.
I would rather face the book.
When was the last time you read the ministry posts of FB? The ones I run and the ones I am affiliated with, are not self-serving, but rather serving others through God!
My group and others, have strong prayer teams, and it is our blessing to see God using these prayer pages to bring His touch to the people in need!
Recently, we had a sister in the hospital with liver cancer, and she was in terrible pain from the chemo! She happens to have four daughters, all under 18, and wanted nothing more than to be home for Easter.
I led the way, sending out a prayer request for her to more than 70 prayer groups, and after more than 4,000 replied that they were praying, this sister did in fact spend Easter with her daughters. That was not self-serving.
We also have a world-day of prayer monthly, and right now there are more than 360 groups participating, and probably 200,000 believers [at least] going to their knees, once a month, all around the world in a cyber organized prayer event!
You may say I am self-serving because I am using numbers to back up the work we do, but in order for me to make sure, this cyber ministry is worth the effort and reaching others, I do run view checks to make sure the time spent on FB ministry is worth it all!
Well, I think it is worth every minute I spend, and as for self-serving, it is more selfless than anything else. The cyber ministry can draw upon thousands within an hour, to support another who has a prayer need! Where else can you garner that kind of a response?
I agree there are those who use this medium for self, and I have rejected those friendships. But, wouldn't you say that there are even those on the board who may be using this medium for self-interests? It's just on a smaller scale, but it exists! Every heated debate, where name calling and dirt are tossed around shows selfish attitudes and interests over the real purpose of the board, and that is for fellowship, and asking a question without being made a fool of!
The reason I came to the board in 2007 was for fellowship, and I have found it in a handful of folks, which is why I remain. The rest of those on this board, make me wonder if fellowship is even possible, because unless others accept their views, they are not going their way!
On Facebook, most of us run guilt-free zones. In other words, no one is demeaned, and more importantly; their love of the Lord is nourished, and we aim to help one another to grow and remain strong. Often, more than I'd like to see, topics on this board lead to hurt feelings, and one ups manship! That in itself is self-serving!
I thank you for your comments; they are meaningful, but if you got to know those on FB who genuinely love the Lord, you may be surprised at how FB is not the cyber shadow you have painted it to be! I happen to love both this board and FB ministries. Shalom! :type::type:
