Sobering facts indeed. I was comparing the increase of world population and the decrease of active missionaries. It is unbelievable!

here's some other little known facts:

90% of the world’s evangelical Church workers (Pastors, Music Ministers, Bible Study teachers, Missionaries, etc… minister to only 5% of the worlds population. The other 10% of the workers are left the remaining 95%.

80% of the Bibles circulating in the world today are printed in English.

96% of total money given to evangelical causes goes to the evangelization of only 5% of the world’s population. The remaining 4% is all that’s left for the rest of the world.

The Jesus Film has been translated into 476 languages to date. Outside of the Bible, it is the most widely used evangelical-witnessing tool. null

I found these stats somewhere, I don't remember where exactly, but they are accurate, I believe. All are close estimations.

    6,102,823,738 - World population
53.3 million people die every year
    1,022,924 peple die each week
    146,132 people die each day
    6,088 people die each hour
    101 people die each minute
    1.7 people die every second

Most of those souls go to Hell. It's kindof sobering isn't it? Every week the population of a city goes to Hell. We need more missionaries. We need more soulwinners.

To be honest I have been praying about the missions field and after things settle down a bit at church when summer is over plan to talk to my pastor about it. I don't know about long term missions, but would love to get involved in some short term missionary work. Does anyone know of any organizations who take groups of people (not necessarily all from the same church) on missions trips for a short period of time?

    Thanks for your help!

    Until Next Post, Adam

Adam, the Baptist Student Unions, here in my state, take one to two mission trips a year. My husband and myself have helped support many of these mission trips. And I believe that each local BSU tries to go to hot spots during spring break for mission work. Of course, I live in Oklahoma so I have no idea if they do this in your home state. [IMG]

In the last century, the world's population grew from just over 1.65 billion to more than 6 billion. While that figure is alarming to some, it does not represent the current rate of population change. Right now the pace of population expansion appears to be in decline, with growth rates falling from about 2.2% in the 1960s to 1.3% in 2000

It'd be interesting to find out if there were any significant changes in any of these stats since 2001. I noticed that this compilation of stats were taken prior to 9/11/2001. It'd be interesting to see if the so-called "Post 9/11'Reviva'" that seemed to occur in the wake of the destruction of the WTC in NYC & the Pentagon near Washington. It seemed as though there was a short-lived revival back some 20 or so years ago, but now, given all the riots + the Covid-19 outbreak in recent years, has had any really lasting impact on the world as we see it in mid-2021?
