Brian McLaren Calls Hell and the Cross
    "False Advertising for God"
In a recent interview, emerging church leader Brian McLaren calls the doctrine of hell "false advertising for God" and berates the body of Christ and the doctrine of the Cross as he has often done before.

This interview shows a clear picture of the spirituality that has swiftly moved into churches across North America and around the world and rejects Jesus Christ's substitutionary sacrifice on the Cross.

Yes, it's the gradual postmodern watering down of the Bible and of the gospel. Postmoderns like McLaren won't say anything definite about anything but they imply a lot. Then they say they never said that.

    Very slippery.

Marcia I agree. However in this case he is clear that to believe in hell is to believe that God coherces us into salvation through fear, violence and intimidation.

Sometimes fear can be a great motivating factor. We ought to fear God because of who he is.

Absolutely! And it's too bad Chrsitians don't take this to heart. We have tons of pastor/teachers that are teaching people that once they are saved everything is okay and there is nothing left to fear about God.

But we are told to work out our salvation with fear and trembling, according to Philippians.
