Favorite books in the Bible

I like Hebrews because of its detailed account of how the Hebrew scriptures prefigured the atonement of Christ. Also, the triumph of Christ in Hebrews is very moving.

Other books I like: Isaiah for its uncompromising position on how sin grieves God but how He redeems nevertheless, and Romans for its clear message of man's accountability to God and God's righteousness, and man's redemption solely by grace through faith.

 

Psalms--you can find every human emotion there

Isaiah--specifically chapters 40-66, beautiful writing there

Deuteronomy--love the covenant language

Acts--reading of the Apostles and the early church always encourages me

Colossians--Christ centered language

 

Romans because it best describes the way of the Gospel and because I love doctrine.

Galatians because it eliminates our works from the Gospel and it is a real work of apologetics against religionists. (Again, 1 Cor. 1:31)

The Gospel of John since it is most clear that our Lord Jesus is God. And it describes His infinite love for us.

Genesis has the story from the beginning without whice we would be most curious about what happened. It also has such great story lines from people like Abraham, Joseph, Lot, etc.

(It's hard to stop here folks with just those four).

 

Psalms---it has a verse for every emotion that I experience---joy, sorrow, fear, trust, or lack of it, etc.

Deuteronomy is my very favorite book. There is just so much to be learned from it.

I would add for Hebrews that it seems a sort of NT catalyst, and Isaiah for the strength and beauty of its language, especially in the KJV.

Also, John for its account of the last 24 hours before the crucifixion.

And Daniel .. and Galatians ... and 1st John ... and .........

 

the gospel of John, from the first word to the last. John was a simple man who spoke a simple and very complex truth

Very tough question.

I really like Galatians for it clearly shows God's grace v the law.

I like the practicality of James

I like the doctrine of Christ in Hebrews

I like Ephesians for the church

I like Philippians for practical teaching on joyful unity

I like the Old Testament historical books to see God's hand at work

There is something special about each and every book.

 

OT poetical books - they are just beautiful

Daniel - God's sovereignty over history

Job - God's sovereignty over day to day events

Colossians - rescued me from legalism

Ephesians - rescued me from myself

 

Ecclesiastes has that effect too.

 

I like Ruth in the OT and The Gospel According to John in the NT. Those are my particular favorites at this point in time.

 

ROMANS has everything in it, there is so much doctrine that if one had a good understanding of the book they could witness to anyone on any subject matter.

John to tell me of the perfect gift - Jesus

Romans to help me through my Christian struggles

 

For some reason I like a lot of the minor prophets--Habbakkuk, Michah, Malachi. I'm not sure why. In the New Testament I like a lot of the Pauline epistles and Hebrews.
