    It's beginning to rain,
Here the voice of the Father.
So if you're thirsty and dry, look up to the sky.
    It's beginning to rain.

That's a chorus we used to sing at church.

Amy took my second choice, "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head".

Rain, rain, go away,Come again another day
Rain, rain, go to Spain, Never show your face again
    Rain, rain, pour down,
But not a drop on our town.
Rain on the green grass, and rain on the tree,
And rain on the housetop, but not on me.
Rain, rain, go away,Come again on washing day
Rain, rain, go to Germany,And remain there permanently
Rain, rain, go away,Come on Martha's wedding day.

I hope, that you all won't call me childish:laugh:

Ok. So jilphn1022 won't feel too childish, here's one.

    It's a rainy day,
    a rainy day.

    It's wet outside,
so I can't go out and play.

Why does it have to rain, anyway?

    The sun is out ,
    the sky is blue,
    there`s nothing left ,
    for me to do,
but it`s raining .......... it`s raining in my heart.

Since I don't have a 'favorite,' I will make one up:

O the weather outside was sizzlin',
It's been weeks since we had a drizzlin'.
But a storm is now o'er the plain.
Let it rain! Let it rain! Let it rain!

It's washing out all the gulleys,
And a round of golf it sullies.
Though the weeked is down the drain--
Let it rain! Let it rain! Let it rain!

    I am keeping our date tonight;
Though my car is beginning to float.
I'll ignore such a crazy sight,
And make the last mile in a boat!

    The town is quickly flooding,
    There's an avalanche of mudding.
But at least we'll share our drowning pain!
Let it rain! Let it rain! Let it rain!

    I'm childish too. LOL

My mother sang this to me on rainy days and I did the same with my kids.

    Rain, rain, go away,
    Come again some other day.
    Little _ _ _ _ _ wants to play.

Rainy Night in Georgia by Ray Charles

"Hoverin' by my suitcase, tryin' to find a warm place to spend the night
Heavy rain fallin', seems I hear your voice callin' "It's all right."
A rainy night in Georgia, a rainy night in Georgia
It seems like it's rainin' all over the world
I feel like it's rainin' all over the world"

Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain by Willie Nelson

In the twilight glow I seen her
Blue eyes crying in the rain
When we kissed goodbye and parted
I knew we'd never meet again

Love is like a dying ember
    And only memories remain
And through the ages I'll remember
Blue eyes crying in the rain

Someday when we meet up yonder
We'll stroll hand in hand again
In the land that knows no parting
Blue eyes crying in the rain

(I have blue eyes and this song came out at the same time my husband went to be with the Lord. It has always been one of my favorites.)

    Fire and Rain....James Taylor

Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone
Susanne the plans they made put an end to you
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song
I just cant remember who to send it to

Ive seen fire and Ive seen rain
Ive seen sunny days that I thought would never end
Ive seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that Id see you again

Wont you look down upon me, Jesus
Youve got to help me make a stand
Youve just got to see me through another day
My bodys aching and my time is at hand
And I wont make it any other way

Oh, Ive seen fire and Ive seen rain
Ive seen sunny days that I thought would never end
Ive seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that Id see you again

Been walking my mind to an easy time my back turned towards the sun
Lord knows when the cold wind blows itll turn your head around
Well, theres hours of time on the telephone line to talk about things
    To come
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground

Oh, Ive seen fire and Ive seen rain
Ive seen sunny days that I thought would never end
Ive seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that Id see you, baby, one more time again, now

Thought Id see you one more time again
Theres just a few things coming my way this time around, now
Thought Id see you, thought Id see you fire and rain, now

Is this a song we can add as a favorite song about "rain"?

There shall be showers of blessing:
    This is the promise of love;
    There shall be seasons refreshing,
    Sent from the Savior above.

    Refrain

    Showers of blessing,
    Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

There shall be showers of blessing,
    Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
    Sound of abundance of rain.

    Refrain

    There shall be showers of blessing;
    Send them upon us, O Lord;
Grant to us now a refreshing,
Come, and now honor Thy Word.

    Refrain

There shall be showers of blessing:
Oh, that today they might fall,
Now as to God we’re confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!

    Refrain

There shall be showers of blessing,
    If we but trust and obey;
    There shall be seasons refreshing,
If we let God have His way.

I haven't heard Ray's version of this song. I really appreciate Brook Benton's imprint. He made his mark with that song.I can't imagine anyone else singing it.

Tony Joe White (remember Polk Salad Annie?) wrote the song.

I had the opportunity to see him in concert more than a dozen years ago. His voice is underrated.Actually, though the song is very much associated with him,and it was his best-seller -- he hated it -- thought the lyrics were infantile.

But,again,Dean Martin's rendering is the best IMO.

    Here ya go, Rippon:

It was Ray Charles' last recording.

Another favorite rain song: Come Rain or Come Shine--several people recorded it, including Connie Francis and Judy Garland.

Oh! you are all so sweet , posters!
I was so pleased that you all made me feel so comfortable as I enjoyed the memories of my childhood. At my age nearing 64 I guess, that I have an
    excuse.
