Don't know how historically accurate most of these are but here are a few of my favorite WWII movies:

    Battleground
    The Longest Day
    Patton
To He (double hockey sticks) and Back - The Audie Murphy Story
    Battle of The Bulge
    The Big Red One
    Sahara
    Story of GI Joe

    Fictional(Action or Comedy)
    Kelly's Heroes
    Dirty Dozen
    Von Ryan's Express
    The Great Escape
    Stalag 17
    The Devil's Brigade
The Last Time I Saw Archie

    Anybody else got some favorites?

I love so many of those already listed.

A particular favorite of mine is The Best Years of Our Lives. I watch it every time it comes on. I'm sure that the above posters have seen it, but if the rest haven't seen it, it's about the struggles of three very different men returning home from WWII and having to face changes.

The film was nominated for 8 Academy Awards and won 7. Well deserved, in my opinion. Harold Russell, who really was a military man and lost both of his hands in a freak accident while he was training some paratroopers, won best supporting actor and he also won a special honorary award for being an encouragement to all disabled vets returning home from war. His character in the film showed what life was REALLY like for these guys.
