A recent post of mine was edited with this note attached:

What about those who clearly denounce the King James Bible? Are you going to start editing their posts too? If not, then you are a hypocrite!

This is the Fundamental Baptist Forum, not the Bible Versions/Translation Forum. Those in this Forum are here to debate and discuss issues other than those with dedicated forums.

That is why your comment was edited. There have been no other mention of versions or the denouncing of the KJV in the thread you are alluding to. If there had been , I am very confident that my co-Moderator or I would have edited it immediately.

Now your definition of "denounce" may well differ from mine, so you may be of a different opinion. [IMG]

Prove it. This belongs under the legalism thread. By the way I have seen noone denounce the KJV on this board.

"He who believeth not in the King James Verson suffereth everlasting punishment."

Whether the KJV or any other English translation is denounced on the Baptist Board is not the issue. The issue is that it will not be tolerated in the Fundamental Baptist Forum. We have a forum dedicated just for that purpose.

BTW, the KJV has most certainly been denounced on the BB. I have a file containing several quotes to that end.

Hmm… I’ll certainly defer to your experience here since I don’t follow the translations forum very carefully. It’s sad that anyone would trash a faithful translation of scripture. :(

My original post was concerning the blatant disregard for the plain teachings of the scriptures. It was posted on the Bible Versions/Translation Forum and then deleted by the moderator. The moderator then posted a new thread and made this statement:

    http://www.baptistboard.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=4;t=000821

When I attempted to bring the issue into the Fundamental Baptist Forum, my post was then edited beyond recognition. It sounds to me like there is a definite bias against those of us who are King James Bible believers.

A thread of that topic should be in this forum. That being the case, we need to respect the guidelines of this forum. One of which is that Bible versions will not be discussed and/or denounced. Such threads/posts belong in the BV/T Forum.

    Denounce (Webster)
    1. Accuse publically
    2. Condemn strongly as evil
    3. Give formal notice of the ending (of treaty)

Have never seen the AV1611 or one of its hundreds of revisions "denounced". I use the 1769 Oxford revision of the AV1611, with 5000+ changes from the original. Nobody has "denounced" it to me. Questioned the validity of translation or underlying Greek (or Latin as the case may be)? God forbid!

Have seen almost every one of the MV "denounced" by "onlies".

And no one has done "anything" to the King James Bible, because King James didn't write or authorize a Bible. We have the King James VERSION of the Bible, one of many good English VERSIONS.

At least if you're going to try to start another silly fight, use "denounce" and "bible" in their proper 1611 English form!

IMO, what is clearly denounced is wrong and/or misguided attitudes ABOUT the KJV (or any other version of the Bible).

The KJV is the Word of God by manuscript derivation as is any other translation and as the KJV translators themselves affirmed.

To discredit the radical KJVO error of translator inspiration is NOT to discredit the King James Version of the Bible but on the contrary to protect both it and the Church from (imo) well-meaning but misguided brethren.

Often times, the KJV is held up to the same standards the radical KJVO use to critique MV's to point out their flawed reasoning (for example:The fact that there are differing editions of the KJV, or "things different are not the same").

This is done to point out the radical KJVO duplicitous standard and not to discredit the KJV.

First, are you sure that the AV 1611 has been revised "hundreds" of times? You may want to go back and recount, I think you'll find it several times less than 100.

Second, consider these quotes and see if they do not qualify as denouncing the KJV.

These quotes appear here just like they did in their original post with spelling errors and all. I certainly detect negative favor with the KJV. I would classify these as denouncing the KJV.

    Personally, I would not.
To say that any translation is no longer usable or outdated or becoming so because the language is archaic is a statement of fact either of the 1611-1769KJV or the Latin Vulgate. Although there are better verbal ways of expressing this thought.

Personally, I see the NKJV as an extension of the KVJ revisions that started in 1613.

That people are happy to use the 1769 KJV edition is fine and I use it myself, but to call the NKJV a "satanic deception" or the product of "apostates" is in my estimation a denunciation of the version.

I call the KJVO movement a satanic deception, look at all this wasted energy

The KJV is a great, proven English translation, I use is often, along with several other solid translations

Unfortunately, it has become difficult to tell anyone you are a fundamental Baptist without getting stygmaized with the KJVO lable, I believe in the Bible, and I see no scriptural or historical support for the onlyist movement, just pure lies, and satanic deception.

    IMHO

We have a specific forum for version discussion and I encourage all those interested to start a new post there or add to an existing one but this one will now close.
