....and to think, we have a Republican administration and Republican-majority Congress (who say they are pro-life so they can get votes from Conservatives).....

So if you are over age 18, pop a pill, and your pregnancy is terminated....

How civilized. And should we be shocked when airplanes crash into buildings?

    OUCH! I don't like the truth to that statement . . .

And do you really think 15 year olds won't be given the pills by adults?

So, how is A related to B? This is clearly a logically fallatious argument.

I guess you are joining Robertson and Falwell, who blamed abortions, gays, feminists, secularists, and other issues for the 9/11 attacks, rather than Islamic extremists who perpetrated the acts.

Well, I don't like this either. I don't like this pill and I don't like that it is now so easily accessible.

But to assume that everyone who takes it is pregnant and is just getting a quick and heartless "abortion-in-a-pill" is not correct. Not everyone who take this is pregnant. Most are preventing conception.

And it is only administered for 72 hours after unprotected sex.

And unprotected sex could mean anything from an unGodly fornication to a vile gang rape of a 13-year-old girl to the breaking of a condom with a Christian married couple who are choosing a condom-only method of birth control.

I don't like this pill. My pro-life stance won't allow me. But I am not going to assume that everyone who takes it is pregnant or participating in fornication.

Scarlett, you are absolutely correct. I would think that this is a good thing for pro-lifers, as it has the potential to eliminate many abortions that would otherwise happen. As I understand it, it is not an abortion pill, but actually does prevent conception from ever happening.

Its the morning after pill. You know the morning after what? S-E-X

If you need it you are not preventing conception, but preventing conception or possible conception form going any further.

The other fall out of this is children will feel more free to have sex. America get closer to Sodom status all the time.

Im not sure what this has to do with 911.

I want to make sure that I am clear that I am not in favor of this pill, even though there may be hypothetical circumstances in which I, myself, would take it or have it administered to a very young, minor child in my custody who is a victim of rape.

If that statement seemed to contradict itself, I am sorry.

For women who are not pregnant, the pill can prevent any egg(s) from becoming fertilized. I would think that women who have unprotected sex and who are sure that they are not ovulating, but who are just a few days away from or ahead of it could take this pill in good conscience. Sperm can "hang around" in the tubes for a up to a few days and fertilize an egg expended from the ovary even a couple of days after sex has occurred.

If you know your calendar and know your body, one could make a valid decision.

However, this is where I have a problem. For women who are pregnant, the pill prevents the fertilized egg from attaching itself to the wall of the uterus. In essence, destroying the zygote.

Some women do not know their bodies and have an irregular calendar and can't predict, within reason, if they are ovulating or not. In this case, you are taking a chance that you could already be pregnant. If one isn't sure about her own body and it has been over 12 hours since unprotected sex, I would say that this is why I don't like this pill.

But I just can't sweep a broad brush and say it's 100% immoral.

I can say, with 100% certainty, that it has been and is definitely being used flippantly, irresponsibly, and without concern for knowing if one is pregnant or not.

And that is where immorality somes into play.

I'm just not going to assume that all women are being immoral in the use of it.

Plan B is to prevent pregnancies. If a girl is already pregnant, this won't change it.

If the egg is not attached, the woman is not pregnant.

And yet abstinence works 100% of the time. It prevents stds, pregnancy, and aids.

Technically, you are quite correct. Pregnancy is defined medically as implantation of an embryo.

My problem with this pill is that it has the potential to prevent a normal embryo from normal implantation. I just can't wrap my brain around that as being alright. I know that many fertilized egg cells never make to the implantation stage. Some even get implanted in the "tube" and have to be destroyed. Some just aren't viable and can't implant themselves. They weren't meant to be.

Preventing the fertilization process to begin with? Now that's a different story. An unfertilized egg, never making a connection with a sperm cell, is not a potential human being and to prevent it from making its way to the Fallopian tube is not immoral. That's just birth control.

But, Daisy, I just can't get a grip on preventing implantation of a fertilized egg. Maybe that embryo wouldn't have made it to the implantation stage, but if left alone, maybe it would.....

I may be too conservative on this issue, but it's just my own viewpoint of what constitutes pregnancy.

Revmitchell....I am in 100% agreement with you!

You believe this principle to be true and I do, too,........... but what about an innocent young girl who does abstain, but is raped? Or a married couple, who according to the bible is encouraged not to abstain, who have an "accident" with a condom?

Abstinence works 100% of the time for those who are supposed to be abstinent.

Not every one is required to abstain and some have their abstinence cruelly taken away from them.

And, unfortunately, we don't live on Planet Perfect where the rest of humanity believes as you and I do.

well, i might have to have a change in view of this. I heard today that this interferes with conception in that it prevents it. And if that be the case then I have no issue with it biblically.

In the case of rape I do not give room for an abortion. But if this stops conception from ever tking place then I can not argue against it.

I also heard it has some very violent reactions within the womans body. Children should not be taking this without parents consent.

No, it is not. RU-486 causes the uterus to expel an implanted embryo. Plan B delays the release of ova from the ovaries since an egg not present cannot be fertilized; as well as making the uterus inhospitable for implantation, thus preventing a pregnancy from ever occuring. RU-486 actually induces an abortion of a pregnancy.

And abortion is evil! evil! evil!

The argument 'what about rape' would not be an argument if women and men married instead of played at it. And yes, that is the one argument where I could see a doctor advising the abortion . . . but, that is so rare. That is much rarer than a car seat belt killing the occupant, but we still have to wear seat belts!

    Abortion is evil! evil! evil!
