    Matt 13:33
Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

Since leaven is everywhere else emblematic of sin and corruption, why (especially in a Gospel written to Jews) could it mean anything else here. This is properly understood as the spread of nominal Christianity. As Christ said in Luke 18:8, "When the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?"

    Acts 19
I think Matthew Henry's comments on the first seven verses to be the most lucid.

    Psalm 31
This is, of course, the Spirit of Christ crying out to His Father. Was there any sorrow like unto His sorrow? (Lam 1:12)

The passage in Exodus begins with these words, "Now these are the judgments..." This is obviously intended as civil law, something to be observed by duly appointed magistrates when judging civil (or criminal) disputes.

The Rabbis of old, erroneously applied these judgments to personal conflicts finding justification to meet out revenge for personal affronts. It is to this misapprehension that our Lord spoke in Matthew 5:38-42.

Arguing a few forums below this one :D

Actually, while I am reading what is being posted, I'm finding myself needing more than what is planned each day. I've finished with this months reading from Matthew and Psalms and am almost finished with Acts. Anyone else finding themselves ahead?

    Here I am!!!

Tonight in Acts, we are looking at the longest stay of any of Paul's missionary journeys. It is obvious that Paul had much to do here as is evidenced by the burning of the sorcerer's scrolls. The evil spirit attacking the Jews who were not true believers is a powerful image.

In Genesis, the Jewish laws are, to me, quite interesting. One can see that fairness is a central issue in these Divine decrees. The chapter ends with God's assurance that the journey is about to continue into the Promised Land and the Jews are assured victory in their encounters.

Adam is correct. I have a debate to which I must return. Thank you Brother Aaron for your comments.

Until tomorrow, may God bless you all

    - Clint

I thank you all that comment on the daily readings. It has been a blessing to me. I pray that God will bless you for all you are doing here. I'm still following along with you even though I don't reply very often.

    Hi Mark -

Yes, this chapter of Parables is often designated as "the Parables on the Kingdom of Heaven."

    Matthew Henry offered these observations:
