Federalist Roll Call

I consider myself to be a Christian Constitutionalist, but I don't know if I would consider myself a Federalist because I agree with many of the arguments of both the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists during the 1780s. I support the Constitution that the Federalist brought us, but am very thankfull the Anti-Federalist fought to get us the Bill of Rights.

I am support decreasing the size of the federal government and returning the power back to the states that has been taken from them by the federal government.

 

Thank you, brother. It'll be good for some of your fellow libs to be introduced to the fields of truth found at the Federalist Society.

Actually, I clearly know better than to direct that comment solely to my liberal friends here, as there are some on the Right who probably take exception to some they will read at Fed-Soc.

As to JG's point re vis a vis the Framers, I would generally be considered a Federalist but also share some of the anti-Fed concerns such as the lack of a Bill of Rights and, as JG said, the size of government. I understand the point of James Wilson and James Madison that a BoR wasn't needed with a framework of limited government but agree that one should not trust one's rights to "inferences".

Do you believe in a “Constitution in exile?

I have never heard that term. It's interesting. I simply believe in looking to the original intent/text/understanding of the Founders.

This gets back to the thread on the two present parties being out of control and not in the interests of the American people. The US Consitution party which runs candidates for President and Congress has a very solid platform.
