Fifty-Three Year Old Nuclear Missile Accident Details Revealed

Indeed nothing is never too little too late. At least now we know.

 

I understand there is a Nuke bomb somewhere in the swamps outside of Savannah, Ga. Accidents happened all the time with those things.

 

Wasn't there a nuke bomb that fell of a bomber into ocean or something like that in the 60"s?

 

I am sure I have heard of that in the past.

There are now sixty-five documented incidents in which nuclear weapons owned by the United States were lost, destroyed, or damaged between 1945 and 1989.

A 42,000-pound thermonuclear weapon called an MK-17 with a 15-megaton yield hit the ground near Savannah, Ga. May 27, 1957.

On February 5, 1958, there occurred an odd incident. It happened over Wassaw Sound off the shore of Tybee Island, near Savannah, Georgia. A MK-15 incomplete thermonuclear weapon with a fake pit was lost in a mid-air collision and never found.

A little over a month after the bomb was jettisoned off Tybee, another B-47 was forced to drop their bomb. This time it was over Florence, South Carolina, in what became known as the Mars Bluff incident.
