We've enjoyed a warm fall, with leaves just turning (not on the elm/oak yet; they're all still fully green). But those pesky Canadians sent us an early cold front, harbinger of what is come.

I've got 10 small trees (6-20 ft) and just got in from knocking off more snow and ice. We have 6" on the ground, 6-10" more coming.
Did a wedding at 5 pm Friday on Casper Mtn at the cross-country ski chalet - beautiful setting and thought it was raining/flakes in two, was snowing nicely up there. Pines all white; couple took some pix outside but I deferred! The mountain is supposed to get 2' of snow by noon tomorrow.

Now none of this moisture will last; it will be 60+ by midweek and, apart from downed branches and ruined young trees (grrrrrrr), no evidence. But tonight the plows and salt trucks are running. Our young church, drawing from all over the county, will be hard hit in the a.m. and lucky to have half of what was there last week. Already had an older couple I visited last night (after I sloooooowly came down the mountain from the wedding) say they would not be coming . . and I can't blame them.

Anyone else having "weather" this Columbus Day weekend?

PLEASE make sure you're not selfish and send some to Long Island this year??? We had 2 small ice storms last year but NO snow. :( No - that's not true - we had an inch of snow one afternoon and it was melted by dinner. I stopped homeschooling and sent the kids outside figuring this just might be the ONLY time they could play in it. I was right. They never even got to go sledding. :(

However, the horses have their winter coats already. That NEVER happens this early - it's usually December before they're done shedding. So I'm hoping this means that we'll get SOME kind of winter this year.

The snow must have followed our Alberta oil over the border. At least we share. Or, it could be our flaky federal election overflowing.

I will redirect the chute on my snowblower so Long Island gets a foot or two of our excessive snowfalls.

Seriously, I thought Wyoming was subject to these freak storms all the time.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Thanksgiving for us!

I'm sure glad I'm not where you are, Dr. Bob. I left Michigan because of the cold, snow and ice. I haven't seen any of that in three years and don't miss it one bit. My outdoor thermometer reads 86 degrees right now. It's a rough life, but someone's got to live it.

If we EVER saw snow like THAT here Atlanta would be closed a Month!! No joke.

When they say we might get a Dusting The TV crews are at the grocery stores warning everyone to stock up there will be no Milk, bread and Ice Cream (never did understand that one) It would be the grocery shortage to beat the gas shortage.

I do understand some of it cause they say we don't have all the sand /salt trucks as they do up north. And we do tend to get Ice more but I can say I lived up in the southern most tip of Ill. for 11 months and I couldn't wait to get out of there. That spraying your engine stuff to get your car to start is for the birds. I'll take my Ga humidity and short sleeves (and so years shorts) until after Thanksgiving. Hey I've got A/C and I know how to use it.

Although it's pretty I can enjoy the picture. THANKS for SENDING it!!!

Here in the Heart of Dixie---------it snows every now and then and then it'll only snow on accident!!!

The last time it snowed----I looked out the window and told my wife, "Look outside, Baby Doll-----its accidently snowin'!!!!!!!"

Nice snow, Doctor-------but tell us-----was it deep enough to bury your bow tie?????

God bless you -- somebody has to live there. Glad you enjoy living up there in the frigid north. For Columbus Day, it will be sunshine, mid-80's, and a nice, warm breeze, just like the good Lord intended it to be.

For once, I can say it will be the same here in Cleveland  It's supposed to be low 80's and sunny today.
