First Century Carpenter ?

My guess is that Jesus more likely worked primarily in stone than in wood. Stone was easier to come by and was popular for building.

A long time ago I remember either hearing or reading that a carpenter at that time worked primarily with the wood involved in plowing and transport; yokes and wheels, for example.

The word "tekton" in Greek means a skilled craftsman in wood. Happen to have looked it up and named my cabinet business Tekton years ago. I hope you guys aren't going to tell me I need to change my name. I'm going to have to go back and see where I got that word now.

There is a church tradition that Jesus worked in wood, making farming implements, and His were the best-made anywhere! Don't ask me anything else--this is all I remember!

I was just thinking of posting the same thing! Ive heard this, too, but all I can remember is that I think Josephus wrote about it.
