49ers hire Sowers, first openly gay coach in NFL

Why would this surprise me? It shouldn't, but it does disgust me, mostly because I am tired of the LGBTQ community and media making a news issue out of sin! So, they hired a woman coach. Good for them. But, why did they, as well as the coach, make a front page story out of her chosen lifestyle?

The fact that the 49er's are from San Francisco, and given that the city by the bay is sort of gay, is probably a great fit. But again, I ask, why does the media have to make a BIG DEAL out of her chosen, sinful, lifestyle. As for me, it is one more reason to make sure the 49er's are not a team I would support, and that means watching them on television! I know ESPN, FS1, ABC and CBS will do a feature-ette on this coach, and I don't feel like listening to or watching sin on the sidelines of the NFL!

My question is not about the lifestyle, but rather, why do these people make a HUGE deal out of their lifestyle, and why does the media add to this by making it an even larger piece of news to report on? How about reporting on the rest of the coaching staff or even the team choosing to be straight? You never hear that, and I probably already know the answer, but I still have to ask why?

Basically because the media support it

You want the news media to report on the status quo on sexuality for the entirety of human history?

As I've read the local news, the new hire didn't make that much of her [fill in the blank] status. It was more of matter of media hype. She looks to be able to do the job.

I think the bigger issue is that the 49ers hired a coach who never played a down in college or the NFL. As far as her being a Lesbian, well, are we supposed to discriminate in hiring because of that? Homosexuality and Christianity are not compatible. Homosexuality is a grievous sin, but the woman has a right to earn a living. If she found an employer willing to hire her, so be it.

I am bothered more by Christians worshipping at the altar of pigskin on the Lord's day than who the 49ers hired. Now that is a discussion worth having.

I bet she is a wonderful receivers coach. I am sure she had extensive experience playing football.

From the article cited:
Sowers played pro football for the Women's Football Alliance at multiple positions and was chosen for the national team that competed in the Women's World Championship. She was also the general manager of the Kansas City Titans of the Women's Football Alliance and worked as an adviser to USA Football.
So, I'd say she should be fairly competent in her job.

Because sports have become politicized.

It sure is, so it's a good thing she has worked for Mike Shanahan and receivers coach Mike LeFleur in the past who both found her helpful.
They sure would not say she was useless. You really think the NFL players are paying her any attention? They are most likely making jokes about her.

Well they vouched for her and helped get her hired so I'm gonna go with what we actually are seeing instead of making wild unfounded assumptions. It seems very important to you that she not succeed or have people that are in her corner. How bizarre.

Yeah, I am like that. I do not like to see people who flaunt a life style of abomination succeed.
