What kind of fish did they catch?
Or, what kind of fish did they keep?
Now a days we have all kinds of laws and local regulations about the kind of fish we can keep and what must be thrown back. Back in the days that our Lord was walking the planet, (as far as i can tell) they had the Law.

Fins and scales. Everything that did not have both, were declared an abomination or unclean . So when Jesus calls to Simon, Andrew, James and John, who were all business partners in the fishing business, they probably only kept the “clean” fish an threw back the rest, correct? Jesus tells them that they will be ‘fishers of men’. Now, is there any correlation between the types of fish they were permitted to keep and the men that they are to fish for? It seems that the fish is a type of men. We keep [and eat] some the fish, but some we cannot because they are unclean and an abomination. Should some men that we catch in our nets, be thrown back? Like that ‘brother’ in 1 Cor. 5?These shall ye eat of all that [are] in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat. And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which [is] in the waters, they [shall be] an abomination unto you: They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination. Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that [shall be] an abomination unto you. – Lev. 11:9-12
